I'll copy & put that in my file...might even photocopy it & put it in a frame for old times sake....like Jim did (bike owner). Those were the days back then...silly boys, we were. |

This isn't me, but this is the same ride on the same track that I did with Didier Theys driving. They told me that we got up to about 160mph on the straight. Skip to 1:50 for the start. <iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/5EUYKpqKd-M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The first time he really hit the gas, I felt the blood rush out of my feet and legs. It was a bizarre sensation. On the back straight the air over the helmet caused the helmet to lift and strain against the chin strap. It was pretty intense. Here's the view from the nose, again, start at 1:50 <iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Xi3MGkfPR4Q" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Not exactly sure but about 135 mph in my 78SC.
Scary when you consider how old the car is. |
This fast, last time out: http://youtu.be/oUjxU3w-ItE
It's not the speed itself, it's the shedding of speed for the next turn that makes things exciting! Terry |
True story. In the early 90's I 'm traveling on I-90 north in IL from Chicago to Beloit, WI to see my g-friend. I'm at above 70 mph travelling north when a Z- 28 hooks up with me, We were playing cat n mouse when we both hit the South Beloit toll. I love coming out of the hole out of the toll booth and I hit over 100 mph, the Camaro dogged me. I was flying when someone came onto the x-way and decided to get in the same lane as me. I hit the brakes to avoid hitting the car. The Camaro catches up with me urging me to go on. Realizing fast is fast and it takes time to slow down. I decided not to engage and exited on the next exit. My biggest fear was not the speed but stopping if someone jumped into the same lane, Never did it again.
BTW: I'm an old muscle car guy. I still like coming out of the hole not bad for a N/A! |

Road rats...aka, Deer.

I've had my 350Z over 140 on a stretch of highway in Mexico that cops won't pull you over on. Would've taken it higher, but I needed to replace the suspension and the road isn't all that smooth...

185 mph
Disappointing attempt at 200 mph..... "Silver State Challenge" 1990
I was running 1.0 bar--- $26 boost controller wouldn't work when I needed it to. Too stiff to crank down with gloves on. I had a k27 with a 16 hot housing and left a few mph on the table. 1979 930 was on rails, nice and stable with Ruf air dam. Navigator was the shop girl at Carl's Place in Las Vegas (old Porschaus) and she talked me into doing it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1438358378.jpg |
134, 3.2 targa, no tail. Montana after they abolished the speed limit.
The rear end felt very light at that velocity. |
151 in my 991 on I-80 in Utah. No room to go any faster.

Our 1986 parts tester was pretty fast .. 9.36 @ 146. With a better driver, it would have gone much quicker. Scared the c**p out of me ..

I've had all my Porsches to the red line. That's about 120 in the Speedster 130 in the '56 coupe, and 140-145 in the 911. The fastest I've ever driven was 161 in one of the customer Indy cars at Las Vegas Speedway. I got in on a media day deal and drove three laps for free. Hard to believe how twitchy the car was. Every gust of wind or bump it the track sent it a foot or two sideways. Still, it wasn't as scary as the SPeedster at 120, shaking and vibrating all over. The '56 coupe gets really light in the back at about 110. The 911 just hunkers down and goes.
