Texas Biker Wars

9 dead and 18 wounded

Texas shootout leaves nine dead

Media hasn't said which gangs but photos show "Scimitars" and a couple of other patches which I can't read. What's it all about?

Considering their lifestyle I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.

Out local "clowns" are going through a war right now.
As far as the media is concerned it's all very quiet but the police are very busy behind the scenes.

McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara confirmed that the deadly shootout between rival gangs involved the Bandidos and the Cossacks.

“There’s been some trouble brewing between these gangs for sometime,” McNamara said. “It boiled over here today in a very bad, violent way.”

The Bandidos were listed as a “Tier 2” gang in a Texas Department of Public Safety report on gang activity in Texas. They are known to operate in the Waco area as well as Williamson County, the report states. DPS did not list the Cossacks in the 2014 report.

::::snip:::::::::::

From an earlier report: An increased police presence was clearly visible with SWAT vehicles present. At a nearby Denny’s, a manager told the American-Statesman that SWAT officers entered the restaurant just minutes after a large contingent of bikers had left.

Denny’s manager DaRhonda McFarland said a “huge” group of bikers entered the restaurant a couple of hours after the shooting. She was aware there had been a shooting at Twin Peaks, McFarland said, but “at the time, I didn’t know the magnitude of it.”

The bikers were seated and served, she said. Then suddenly, they all got up and left, with some not paying their bills.

About five to 10 minutes later, SWAT officers arrived, McFarland said. It left many customers on edge and made her nervous, she said.

“I’ve been around bikers my whole life,” McFarland said. “Some are family men that just like the hobby, and you can tell these were different.”

The figures are staggering... 9 Dead, 18 Injured.

I'd imagine the Police will overreact in some way although considering the body count I'm not sure that's possible.

They are not motorcycle enthusiasts. They are criminals that also love bikes.

Sounds like Twin Peaks shares some blame in this one.

I saw a couple pictures of a group of them standing around waiting to be interogated....I don't know how one gang could tell it members from any other gang. To a person, they all had black riding boots, blue jeans, black leather jackets, and a black bandana....typical hoodlums.

The good news is no cops or bystanders were hurt. They were just cleaning out the gene pool some. No loss to the world.

LE is gonna be ruthless on the guys now. I heard today they had arrested 192 bikers. When this is all said and done, those gangs will need to start big recruitment drives.

I'm in Waco during the week and have eaten at this restaurant, tho never on 'bike night' It's quite a busy place in a growing upscale area of the city.

I'll wager that the twin peaks manager was a biker or wannabe. I can see a bike night as increasing business, but if they are prone to walk on their checks not the business you might want.

The Police knew it was coming and had a heavy police presence at the time of the fight, they're trying to determine how many were shot by Police.

I've heard reports of up to 5 different gangs were there, and some are coming in from all over the State to take revenge on each other for this incident.

My band got asked to play a last min. gig at a local Hell's Angels bar for AZ Bike Week in late March. I had heard it was a pretty rough place. And it was. It's the kind of place that makes me want to buy cheap gear to use if I ever go back there for a gig. Phoenix PD Gang Task Force were working the door, which isn't a good sign. Fortunately, it was during daylight hours and outdoors, so not too rowdy. But they want us back for a full Fri. or Sat. night and that's gonna be kind of scary.

Twin Peaks around here is a like an upscale Hooters with all the local Scottsdale salarymen coming in for lunch and happy hour.

It's interesting. They operate pretty much the same in Aus right down to the annual toy ride.

And they have the best (most expensive) lawyers.

In the '70's and '80's it looked like these biker gangs were on a sharp decline. Something changed in the '90's, and ever since then, they have been enjoying pretty good growth. I can't believe the number of young people being attracted by these "clubs".

They take their little self-created world very, very seriously. It is, after all, all they've got. And today it is very, very lucrative - if you are on top of their particular dung pile.

They guys we see out there flying their club colors in public are, for the most part, just the dumb (and quite willing) grunts. The foot soldiers who dearly love to be tough guys and play the biker game, but are too freakin' stupid to understand the power structure within their own clubs. We'll never see the really big fish out on the street dressed like that; they wear expensive business suits, are clean cut and well spoken, and are making a ton of money off of these fools. It's the perfect crime, with easily recruited, fiercely loyal stooges at the bottom to do the dirty work.

Unfortunately, the boys in the trenches continue to believe their own press. Back in "the day", they were indeed simple bike clubs, masters of their own destinies. Those days are long gone. Today it's Hells Angels Inc., Bandidos Inc., Outlaws Inc., etc. The big money on top are pulling the strings, with the street level biker being merely a puppet. The big problem the big money boys run into are incidents like this - the clowns on the bottom of the heap still behave how they have been taught "real" bikers behave. This is very, very bad for business, as it raises LEO's scrutiny on them, making it difficult for the stooges to go about their daily chores.

The guys with the patches really are just role playing at this late stage of the game. They are attracted to the biker lifestyle, and follow its "rules" to the death. They honestly believe there is some form of "honor" attached, and that that "honor" flows through their particular club. They are very territorial, very proud, and absolutely unyielding. Useful idiots for sure, but this is kind of what happens periodically. You can bet the guys on top are all face-palming, shaking their heads, and already working on damage control. The dogs got off their leashes...

I blame the last two seasons of Sons of Anarchy where 642 people died in a glamorous fashion every single episode.
