Favorite Treats

One of my favorite treats is so simple yet so awesome it's hard to stop eating it. You take a water cracker, put a small dollop of creme fraiche, and then top that with some smoked salmon. I like wild caught salmon over the farm raised.

Another, is Brie on a water cracker topped with either sliced apple (gala or green) or craisins. My daughter likes this as well and sometimes we'll share a plate of these.

What are some of your favorite things to snack on?

A large Fuji apple is great. I like most fruit and, being from Wisconsin, I like a variety of cheese. Muenster curds are great. Venison jerky is also pretty good. Popcorn if I am snacking during a movie. The old boring way with butter and salt.

A toasted slice of rustic bread
...rubbed with garlic
...smeared with avocado
...sprinkled with red pepper flakes and sea salt
...and drizzled with olive oil.

Great topic. I like halva with a cup of tea first thing in the morning as a treat. It's sweet and not too much fat.

I can't keep Oreo's in the house any more. Add a glass of milk and the bag would be gone, and I would be 25 lbs heavier.

We found a receipt for "watermelon bruschetta"
Diced watermelon
Fresh basil
ricotta and feta cheese blended together
Balsamic vinegar and honey reduction
Toast

Our ricotta had gone bad so we did it with just feta, pretty good.

Had a lot of melon left over so I did it up as a salad with not toast and just drizzled balsamic and honey over it.

Think I'm going to try it with mozzarella instead of the feta, work in progress.

Honeycrisp are way overpriced but taste pretty good. Had Envy apples the last time I got them. Don't like the Red Delicious at all.

Apples and peanut butter. Apples peeled and rolled in butter then cinnamon and sugar then roasted over a fire. Banana with peanut butter. Sometimes in a sandwich.

Some of the other stuff sounds good but not to simple.

Cajun trail mix. Nachos. Anything with some spice, really.

I'm not sure I have a favorite. There are lots of yummy snacks, some healthy, many not.

pretzel crackers, cream cheese and candied jalapenos.

good ice cream, blue bell, three twins, Jeni's.

I eat a lot of Apples. I like crisp tart apples, like Gala, Fuji, etc....

Oranges, especially sumo and golden nugget. They are both ugly, wrinkly oranges with a loose peel and very sweet. Blood oranges are also quite tasty.

Cheese, many different types, cheese by itself, cheese with dried/cured meats, cheese with crackers, Brie on a melba toast with fig spread, sharp cheddar with pretzels, pepperoni or salami and mustard.

popcorn

potato chips with dip made from Lipton onion soup mix and sour cream (Hidden valley ranch is another dip option)

Almost anything with chocolate involved.

I love Oreos with milk, but rarely buy them because it's too easy to eat the whole bag at once.

I suspect there are many many more snacks that I've forgotten.

Yup. It's a drink. It's a snack. It's a meal.
