Somebody should tell the reporters to check to see if the five persons int he RV were wearing helmets.

So Waylon didn't have a private license and his buddies (all 5) hop in a 4 place RV10 and auger it in at night. I have some questions
1 Was Waylon sighed off for night flying?
2 Was the RV10 completed with all the FAA paper work and did it have an current Air Worthy Certificate?
3 Was the plane out of CG?
4 Did Waylon have a High Performance Sign Off?
5 How DRUNK were they?

I've spent the last 3 days filling out paperwork, compiling radar data, and logging voice recordings on several pilot deviations. The amount of stupidity I see out of pilots lately has been ridiculous. The last thing I want to do is violate a guy, but man, I really hope these guys learn...for their sake, and others' sake

I'm pretty sure the guys described in the OP are finished learning after yesterday.

Yeah, Bobby Joe! You want to fly my plane with me. We'll have a few beers and the go for a ride. Bring your stupid friends.

Feds: 5 Dead After Unlicensed GA Pilot Crashed Homebuilt Plane | Fox News Insider

Five people were killed last week when a small plane crashed in a rural area of southern Georgia.

They said it's unclear why the group was traveling in the middle of the night. No flight plan was filed before Boatright took off from a small airport in Bacon County.

Authorities are hoping cell phones recovered in the wreckage of the four-seat RV-10 will yield some clues.
Gosh it is a shame they did not file a flight plan, we all know that would have saved them. If only they had a flight plan!
