A month later you're still yammering about this song. Not even the top 5 best AC/DC songs, let alone anything important in the broader pantheon of rock and roll. As for Steve'n'Seagulls, god help me understand how they make a buck... Yet another reason to never visit Scandinavia, along with the crap weather, horrible food and what not.
Now, the Stone's song, on the other hand... that's worth some study. JR |

If you've never listened to the Beach Boys "Pet Sounds" its a great CD, it has a bunch of riffs showing how they took vocals and melded them to the music.
This NPR piece on "Good Vibrations" is excellent. The Story Of The Beach Boys' 'Good Vibrations' : NPR

I brought both songs up. For years my favorite was "You Shook me all Night Long". Probably still is. Why the hate? What went wrong today? What bug crawled up your butt? This thread is fluff. You gotta lay the big turd in there to make what point, exactly? Perhaps to prove you are mean? Is that the intent? Nice.

Aww, lighten up, Francis. Just yanking your chain a little. Odd for you to get your nose out of joint, as you've yanked countless threads sideways... You know?
Seriously, though, I've listened to this song a bunch and don't see what all the fuss is about. Several songs from the Back In Black era seems to be more interesting. You familiar with their old work? JR |

Stop confusing me with the facts. Not ranking the song. The rhythm enters at one minute in. It's different. Thanks for not ripping me to shreds for being a dick head, which I was.

Listen to Back in Black on a really good sound system at moderate volume. You want to be able to hear all of the nuances of the song.
Then listen to Hells Bells. JR |

It was the first album after Scott's death and the title song is essentially a tribute to him. For me, Brian Johnson is the lead singer for the band. His 35 years overshadows what Scott did and when most people think of the lead singer's voice in their head, Johnson is who they hear. He contributed most of the material on that album.
Speaking of which, it has sold over 50 million copies making it the best selling hard rock album ever and the 2nd best selling album of any kind, after Michael Jackson's Thriller. When you listen to it, you have to be able to hear the nuances of the playing. I want you to hear the sibilance of the cymbals, the effect of the pick on the guitar strings, etc. Mutt Lange produced the album and its sonic qualities are amazing. Some recording studios use it to see if their studios sound worth a ****, or not. They actually had a foundry cast the bell used on Hells Bells after they couldn't get the sound they wanted using church bells. If you like they progressive layering of Thunderstruck, you'll like the intro to Hells Bells. This album needs to be heard on a good sound system; frankly it needs a better one than most people have. Use an original CD or a perfect copy of vinyl. If you download an MP3 file for this, or even think about listening to it on your computer, I shall put a hex on you. Turn the lights out in the room. ![]() Spooling up. I have a Sony GX67ES receiver from the early 90's. ES means "spiffy", I think. Also the first variant, non self powered Bose Acoustimass speakers. On the "B" speakers I have some tall, medium quality, JBL's with a very nice quality 8" JBL down-firing sub. "B" is not balanced as to quality. I will use the Bose only. Re-positioning speakers for the listen in the shop. Friday and Saturday night here seems a social event so have to get the peeps out. Industrial park but there are still "neighbors" that visit. Odd bunch, but we get on ok. Have acquired good quality source material. I am ready. Mutt was Married to Shania, right? Her stuff was powerful. Bet most is from his production talent. I will turn the lights off. No one here. What the hell. For an average of a one joint every ten years guy, two tokes would be perfect. Hells Bells. Yes, close to same impact as when the rhythm comes in on subject song. Same, "Damn, that sounds killer" in passages.

Mutt was married to Shania, yes. Can't figure out what he was thinking when he boned her friend. Guy's worth 200 million plus, ugly as a bulldog's ass and lands one of the top 3 best looking women on the planet. Then bones her best friend, who is worse looking than he is, on a good day. I give Shania all the credit for her singing, because she is so good looking. And, yes, she can carry a tune.
Not sure I'd pick the Bose over the JBL. Best would be to visit a high end audio dealer with a bottle of vintage Bourdeaux and some nice, stinky French cheese, and ask to demo their best system. Ask if they have any big JM Lab speakers. Give them a second bottle if they have any Grand Utopias. You'll need about 45 minutes. JR |

Ears are bleeding. A lot for an old man.
Going to listen with the JBL set up round 2. Shake a Leg was sweet.

Bob, now try playing "Back in Black"
It has both chords and a chromatic riff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUczm9REC4c https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/a/acdc/back_in_black_ver8_tab.htm

I do have a set of large KLH speakers I can borrow and swap with the JBL's. They are better quality.

He has four Infinity Quantum 2 speakers and twin McIntosh amps (he was into quad). Have another friend with Rotel equipment. RMB1075 amp / RSB1066 pre-amp/surround sound processor & B&W speakers. Will see him over New Years. That is the best bet. Mine dialed in with larger speakers will sound good but is not close to reference equipment. 2nd guy thought the intercom comment was pretty damned funny. First guy mentioned Phase Linear along with the age caveat. I see them on Ebay. I could ping him about the second McIntosh amp if interested. Only 150 watts per channel. He is now deaf in one ear. I will say the Bose bass box did not have the kick it needed at moderate volumes so I turned it up. Hence, the ear discomfort. Album together is better than singles separately but old news to their fans.
