He was a fantastic guy and a great enthusiast/mechanic who really knew the cars but I'm surprised that he let his old 911 get so run-down. He was in good health and vitality until recent years, if not mistaken.
The price is also shocking for a very tawdry '68 911T, that would have been a $5k car not so long ago. ![]()

He was a good guy who always jumped in & tried to help. RIP Grady.

Jeeze, he is just about driving the tires off that car!
Hope a Pelican buys it and does a documented restoration thread like the one on Warren's car. There are very few posters on the technical forum that I would check every one of their responses to various threads that I saw. Grady was one of them.

Okay... I like early 911s as much as the next guy, and I know that the market is going nutty, but who in their right mind would pay nearly 100K for a comparatively not-really-all-that-rare 911 that clearly needs a little bit of work? I mean, sure -- it is a desirable car... but 99K?!

That wheel-lift photo is a classic, I guess it was taken a looong time ago based on the condition of the car and its disuse since 1980(?)
Someone who knew him in the gravity world can correct me but wasn't he pretty big guy, like really tall and over 200 lbs.? That's a lot of centrifugal force in that photo. ![]()

Aside sentiments, I just don't get the value of it especially the condition of it. That car looks like a mess.

Thats how I feel. Grady was a cool guy, but I don't place a premium on the car just because it was his. It looks like a nice dry starting point for a project, but thats it...

This of course in no way justifies the asking price but there is value there.

Dennis I'd agree if he had been working on and driving the car. But that things been sitting in a barn longer than I've been alive. I don't care who owned it, not being touched is not being touched and everything will need to be done.

Doesn't matter. It hasn't been touched by bad hands. That can be irreversible. I'm sure that it needs to be resealed but it's going to be a good engine and trans, etc.

On the car, it's worth whatever someone will pay. It certainly commands a large premium for being all original and correct. I've parted out and cut up 6 longhoods and 8 impact bumper cars. Just reaching parts car status, you know these cars were abused. But most here on the boards have no idea how badly treated these cars can be. Forget Home Depot hardware being used, some cars I've parted the "junk drawer" was raided or someone stole a screw from the toaster for this and that to bind the car together. One of the few good things about the bubble is idiots can't own these cars anymore. Net-net, this is an easy restoration for any qualified 911 shop and that has real monetary value.

That's a $15k car.
