Mmmmm... I always felt like my old RX-8 was nearly perfect. If it had more power, I'd still have it today. But that engine was weak, and I never saw a forced-induction story on the RX-8 that didn't end poorly. A 450hp RX-8 (complete with the back seat) would 100% be owned by me in a heartbeat. Concept looks like it will not have back seat though

Rumor has it in the Nissan/Datsun world is Mazda is going to licenses this to Nissan and bring out a new 240z. I doubt it's true but it would be cool.

Funny, my wife had a Z. We passed a survivor on the road the other day and she commented on how it would be nice to see a modern retro reissue.

Refreshing to see a driver-oriented screen free interior in 2015. Hopefully that thought lives on the way to production.

I have had many Zs from a really nice early 71 240, to a 78 280, to an 83 280ZXT, and many in between. I really believe that Nissan lost alot of loyal customers when they brought out that futuristic abomination called the 350Z. Up until that point the car clubs were full of retro enthusiest, and after that point, they were full of wannabe boyracers who bought into the legacy.

I like the concept cockpit, it has a definite FD vibe to it.

et me be the first to say...

Remember this is the concept... if/when it becomes a production car it will probably be more practical (remember the Boxster concept?)

It's a concept and will likely see some tweaking if it is in fact released.

Proportionally, IMHO, the wheels are just a touch too large up front and the cockpit / roofline could do with a bit more height but I'd still take it as is.

Why is the hood so long? Rotaries are pretty compact.

I was selected to do a marketing survey for the 350Z (or was it a 300Z?) before they came out. I got $100 to evaluate the car for several hours. I remember they spent quite a bit of time asking our opinions on pricing. I was one of the only ones in the group that grew more and more negative as they discussed lower price points. I felt that as soon as they got their pricing near Mustang territory, that you would attract the wannabe boyracers. I felt like they should go higher to attract a "better" crowd.

Because they can.

Might be they are going for a true FMR.

Pretty, but I'll be surprised if it makes it into production looking anything like that. But, I've been surprised before.

Meanwhile, I'd like to see Mazda make a coupe version of the Miata with the 2.5L.
