U S N's newest destroyer , captained by James Kirk

A somewhat radical design, very small crew. Aptly named capt.

Interesting new gun aboard. 63 mile range, persistent accurate fire. Wow.

Where do you stow the anchors? Or deploy them with out raking the hull.

Must have quite the video displays at the bridge.

Only 4 Billon +. Each.

Old school technology. Looks like the Merimac.

I thought the design was more driven by smaller radar signature.

Cpt. Kirk needs to lay off the eyebrow waxing and pencils.

Funny Superman, the early ironclads were my first reaction too.

I knew the Star Trek references would come along. And you guy don't disappoint.

Interesting comments in the piece about handling and the surprising fixed props.

Cheers Richard

I think the Khan in question here is a Star Trek character .
Pretty sure he was from elsewhere.

The hull design is eye opening to me. Plum stems are the thing in racing sailboats now.
But a 40/50 ' reverse stem and the tumble home of the top sides too are quite something.

Cheers Richard

Wha...?

Genghis Khan was Mongolian.

Khan Singh was genetically engineered, but as far as I know there was never a revelation as to where or by what country.
Singh is a common Sikh name, though.

That article reads like some bleeding heart trash you'd see published on any number of college campuses today.
I hope that ship has a "safe" zone where the sailors can go and be free of anything offensive !

Anchor rooms below deck. Anchors drop straight down through the bottom of the hull.

Another 4 Billion dollars wasted, for what?. This ship is going to do what, for what purpose? When was the last time you saw, or heard of any destroyer doing anything meaningfull. Yes, it will cruise the waters, looking for a fight but won't find a thing. Maybe it will find a boatload of cubans afloat, yep, that will justify the 4 billion dollars of hard earned taxpayers dollars.

Aren't destroyers part of the protective flotilla around aircraft carriers?

Glad to hear about the anchor arraignment , thanks Eric.

Cheers Richard
