December 8th - Let's not forget "Dimebag"
It seems as though December 8 was/is a pretty dark day for the music world. In addition to the tragic and senseless murder of John Lennon in 1980, December 8th, 2004 also saw the murder of guitarist Darrell “Dimebag” Abbott (formerly of Pantera)! He and four others were killed at a Damageplan concert (his then, current band) in OH
Dimebag Darrell, Four Others Killed In Ohio Concert Shooting - MTV ‘Dimebag’ Darrell’s murder remembered as one of music’s most heart-wrenching | NBC4i.com Not for everyone, but I sure did love Pantera. For me, they tapped into that same angst fueled adrenaline that Rage Against the Machine and countless punk bands did EDIT: yes, I realize that it's a day late, I got sidetracked yesterday when I intended to post it.

Sad indeed. I've watched the Behind the Music episode several times and can see the pain in Vinnie's face as he talks about that night.
Was there ever a connection made between the date with Dime's killer and Lennon's killing? Digging Vinnie's latest, Hellyeah!, too.
