Making a Murderer - Anybody watch it?
I watched six episodes in a row tonight. If I could keep my eyes open I'd watch the last 4 episodes tonight. Fascinating.
It's on Netflix.

Yep, I posted about it a few days ago. Saw on the news tonight that there's a massive "free Steven" campaign going on right now. The defense attorney was interviewed a few days ago, too.
I'm not sure what to make of it. Supposedly there was some stuff not presented in the film. Personally, I don't think he did it... I think it was a way to make a 60+ Million dollar lawsuit go away quickly.

This may be where I first heard of it. Mrs WD said she wanted to watch it, fell asleep during the second hour. I was still glued to the screen 6 hours later.

As a person who lives near Milwaukee, that guy is NOT Innocent. Who runs and hides like he did because he didn't do anything wrong?

Watched the whole thing last week...if the info portrayed is anywhere near accurate, it's hard not to think something fishy went (is going) on.
When the defense atty was asked for an interview by the makers of the movie years after the trial, his comment (in the movie) was something like: "Actually I really hope he did it...if not it scares the hell out of me what has been done to him". That's before the series was released...since he didn't have anything to gain by it (all possible legal avenues exhausted), I thought that was a pretty strong statement.

Which guy? There are a lot of people in this story who could be guilty of wrong doing. Which one ran and hid? I don't remember anyone running, but I'm only 6 hours into the story.

Steve Avery led the cops on a chase once they found him.

Apparently planting evidence is a common theme in this story.

IMHO, it's a show made to get ratings, get people talking about it and new subscribers to Netflix. I watched it all the way through and thought, wow, what is going on here. However, after some research you will find the presented material to be lacking or very one sided.

When first released, Netflix also released the first episode to YouTube. I'm planning to start it this week:

My wife and I binge-watched Jessica Jones instead. Pretty dark stuff for a Marvel thing.

I'm 3 episodes in and regardless of anyone's guilt or innocence, the 16 y.o. kid's "defense attorney" should be taken out and shot in the balls. Holy Christ.
I've heard stories of poor people getting less than completely competent counsel from PDs or court appointed lawyers but he was beyond all comprehension. I'm trying to imagine what outhouse law school graduated that freak. I was so pissed-off watching it that I'm still calming down. Unbelievable. ![]() ![]()

I'm not sure if spoilers apply here, but I don't want to take a chance...so, I'll just say: watch it all, and in the end his behavior is enough for at the very least a retrial.

I'm talking about his original attorney, who was released in the episode I watched last night.
I grew up with a great defense lawyer as a dad and I know that everyone cannot be Perry Mason but holy balls. This guy's approach was basically, "I have no game. I have no legal skills. I've never really set foot in a courtroom before so the best I can do is plea you out immediately based on your testimony against the other guy, who I have no idea what the evidence against him is because it's still being assembled. I haven't done any discovery. The only evidence they have against you is your own coerced statements w/o an attorney present and you are borderline mentally retarded plus your statements conflict each other. Furthermore, I'm going to have my 'investigator', (who does not actually investigate), help you craft a written confession and then feed you to the police detectives so that you can confess and incriminate yourself to them, again w/o an attorney present. I should normally be present for this part but I'll be busy beating-off to clown porn and working on my William Macy impression from Fargo."

I think you're referring to Len Kachinsky. He tried unsuccessfully to run for some judicial office and came in third (surprise, surprise) and states he needed something "high profile" to enhance his public persona, hence taking on the kid's defense.
