It's worth 5 minutes of your time.

My father told me about experiments carried out in the 50's or 60's where test subjects wore glasses that would invert and reverse what they saw. It took them about two weeks trying to cope, but suddenly their brain switched over and they could function fine. I wonder if he was pulling my leg - think I'll Google it.

The hardest part, for me anyway, about flying a radio controlled airplane is steering it when it's coming toward you. Suddenly, left is right and right is left. But with practice, you can switch between the two systems of steering. Just like the bike.

One of the neuroplasticity things that affected me is the shift pattern on my 911.
I drove a 914 starting when I was 19. It was my only car for over 22 years. My brain and hands knew the shift pattern. 1st gear was against the spring and back. Then I moved into a 911 with a 915 transmission. I had to stop and think what the shift pattern is. To this day if I don't drive the 911 for a month I have to think about it. After a few days of constant driving it becomes second nature and I don't have to think about the shift pattern.
