				Snow board questions

Been a skier since I was six. WAY too many years ago....my knee is trashed and before I pack it in for the duration, decided to try snow boarding...... The attached is a board I picked up off of CL. It's set up for goofy foot, I can change that and it has a skeg that can be swapped. DO I NEED the skeg or can I go flat bottom and be able to swap ends? I can skate both ways.

Funny I actually tried snowboarding for the first time this past Friday myself. I've been skiing 30+ years and have always been good at board sports (skating, ski boarding, wake boarding, surfing, etc.) but just never got around to trying it. It's WELL worth it. I recommend going (as I did) with a good instructor for a couple of hours. It cuts down greatly on the "time on knees and ass". The general theory translates well from skiing (still using edges!) just the way of moving to get the edges set is obviously different. It's very fun - I'm sure I'll be back to do it again. It's fun going slow and working technique rather than just tearing down the hill like I do when skiing. Different experience. Love it! I'd suggest renting a few different boards to figure out what you really want / need. That's what I plan to do. | ||
