radar detector mirror mounts- Valentine One specific
I recently picked up a used Valentine One detector with the primary use to be in my Boxster. While it came with the suction cup and visor mounts I don't really care for either. Suction mounts usually let go at the worst times and leave outline rings on the windshield. Visor mount may work but what happens when you need the visor

It tucks up very close on mine. You can't get your finger in between the bottom of the mirror and the top of the detector, but there is plenty of room to adjust the mirror. I thought that it might block my visibility some, but because it sits so high, it's not a problem. Because I have the auto-dimming mirrors, I was also able to get a short cable and tap into the power inside the mount which was nice.

I really like the idea of these - they're way expensive but I similarly am sick and tired of the stock V1 mount coming unstuck at inopportune times. Thanks for the link - probably going to order one.

There is some space under the mirror, but since my mirror and mount are a little different than yours, I couldn't say how yours will be. I would assume there will be enough space. Also, the mount is adjustable. I have mine adjusted to get the detector as close to the bottom of the mirror as possible. I think I have had some pics at some point but can't find them. I'll try to remember to take some more today.

This guy has a manual dim mirror and it looks like he has plenty of room.

Yes, the suction cups do leave round marks on the glass. They wipe off. I moisten the surface of the suction cups on mine with a slight smear of saliva and they never, ever come loose unless I want them to. Also, I prefer to mount my V1 down low, right above the dash. Seems to me it's less visible to other drivers and the cord is not dangling from the sky.
What matters, though, is that the V1 is a very effective device, however one mounts it.

Have had a V1 with suction cup mount for about 12 years. Yes it does come off about once every 2 years (usually due to high heat of summer). I do it in this order:
Remove the detector from the mount Clean the inside glass extremely well Moisten the suction cups before pressing onto the glass. I'm good to go for a few more years.

I have the blendmount in my 85 Carrera. I switched the mirror to the automatic dimming mirror with the buttons for the garage door and temperature probe. I liked that mirror so much I put one in my 86 El Camino.
The blend mount is great. It tucks it up out of the way and I seem to have great front and rear coverage.

I have a V1 with a Blendmount with a wire tap coming out of the power for the rear view mirror. Have had this set up for the past four years and LOVE it. When I'm in the 911 I have the cord it came with and a visor mount.

I didn't want the V-1 hanging off the rear view mirror, so I glued a telephone wire modular plug onto the windshield rubber. I made a custom coiled cord from some extra phone coiled cord with plugs that I bought at radio shack. It ended up really slick. Now the V1 sits right under the mirror out of my line of sight, and no ugly cord dangling to the ciggy lighter.

Mounted on the mirror makes it impossible for me to snatch it down on those rare occasions when I do get pulled over. Here in jersey those things piss the LEOs off big time.

I have mine stuck to the windshield above the mirror. A piece of clear packing tape on the windshield dots and fresh suction cups every few years ensures that the V1 stays put.
