Probably not as our justice systems not reward "bad judgment" as easily South of the border.

I must have some cat DNA because I should have died a few times...

All true but as you know this happened at 1 am in the morning. My kids were in the house at that time.

I'm not blaming the parents but maybe they should have reined in their boys a bit more.

I did a few crazy things, but never on that level of stupid.

When I was 17 at 1:00 AM I had to be home or on the job working a customer's project. I was usually too busy working to go out and get in trouble.

It is a very sad tragedy.

Yup, but thankfully none of it ended up on faceplant.com

Oh Haha 02-09-2016 04:53 AM

When I was in my teens I would sneak out and meet friends. We would walk to a bridge over the local river, hang out, smoke cigs, and pretend to be cool.

One night we challenged each other to cross the bridge by going UNDER it hand over hand using the girders.

Had one of us fallen it would have been very bad.

:D....can't recall how many times I/we stayed out ALL night...and our parents never had a clue.

Did plenty of stupid stuff my parents didn't find out about until years later... Or not at all!

flipper35 02-09-2016 06:40 AM

There is stupid, and there is stupid.

I looked up the site of the tragic accident on google maps. I was curious how accessible it is.

The Canadian Olympic Park, where the accident occurred, is surprisingly close to a lot of housing and commercial activity.

I am surprised this hasn't happened before. That whole complex would have had an irresistible appeal to my 17 year-old self.

My heart goes out to the parents.

Dad broke his back as a kid when they went down a hill in a field. The Toboggan hit a stump.

There are residences backing on to the facility. And some residents claimed the gates were not always locked.

Although from the video I saw it appeared they may have used bolt cutters to get in. The police were quite interested in the chain used to keep the gate shut.

Someone breaks into my property and gets hurt in the dark, I don't expect to get sued...

I've read the posts on here... Some of you aren't done doing stupid stuff!

wdfifteen 02-09-2016 07:28 AM

That's a tragic story.

I did plenty of stupid stuff when I was 17. Lucky I survived it.

tadd 02-09-2016 07:37 AM

Young is stupid. Looking back, its like... WTF was I thinking...

Like taking a handful of blood thinners so that a few of us could leave bloody handprints all over the school (the blood is thin enough to come out our pores) while squishing in bloody shoes. We felt woosy. No Duh...

I was out with a friend on motorcycles one halloween night. No headlight, no helmet, went off the road and into a tree. Had a shiner for a month. Could have broken my neck, literally....
Fortunately I had some very sane mentors in my life that steered me away from hard drugs and alcohol, but that night on the bike could have ended or changed my life big time....

vash 02-09-2016 08:05 AM

i was just talking to my childhood friend last night..(he builds custom cutting boards, so i wanted his input).

we were going over some of the stories that risked life and limb. scary.

bivenator 02-09-2016 08:05 AM

Bobsledding at night sounds like great fun. Sorry about the tragic loss of life and for me stupid stuff didn't cut off after the teen years.
