Can an iPhone be infected with malware, a virus or ???
My old iPhone 4s has always worked great until I downloaded an iOS update. What a mistake that was!
Now it's super slow, bogs down and reloads pages several times. One site in particular, Fox News, is the worst. In addition to reloading pages several times, as I click on a article, I'm redirected to King.com for games. I've also been redirected to a porn site. Neither of which I've been to. My other 4s I use at home isn't updated and doesn't have this problem. I looked into reformatting to it's original state, but then to sync everything it downloads the newest software again. So, besides not going to Fox News, is there a free virus/malware scanning software I can use? Last edited by A930Rocket; 02-11-2016 at 09:04 AM.. |

Remove adtrack.king.com Hijacker - MalwareFixes
Solution for iOS Devices: Reset Settings: 1. Go to Settings and then click on General. 2. Scroll down to the bottom and click Reset. This method witll reset some of the modified settings, not everything that is stored on the device. Uninstall Apps: 1. Track the Apps you have installed recently. Removing them may help stop the adtrack.king.com hijacking issue. Some of the reported apps that are causing this are Iconmania and MineCraft. However there is no confirmation yet if users who got affected have downloaded the legitimate copies. It could be a version with code injected into it. Logout Facebook Account: It is said that Facebook app King Bling has something to do with this redirect problems. In some occasions, it will show an error “You don’t have a Facebook app user session! Please log in to the King Bling app in Facebook.” You may want to delete the app from Facebook or logout the account and see what will happen.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
The only four apps I have are: Fly Delta, Shazam, Bank of America and Amazon video. |

You mean the icon for the app on the home screen or a pop up notification?

I got two Iphone4's from ATT right when they came out. I stopped upgrading mine after about a year. My wife kept hers current. She had quite a few problems with lockups, et cetera.
When I visited one of the most famous Apple Stores around here (Palo Alto), I asked one of the managers about this. He told me that although the company continues with updates on older products, often times it makes sense to avoid them as resources are not plentiful to sort out bugs and issues before releasing SW. When I pressed him, he said do not upgrade unless you have to. That was based on my phone's age and the then-current iOS updates. Of course as a marketing professional often tasked with leading SW development efforts for legacy products, I already knew the answer. We don't just limit resources, we carefully leave irritants to gently encourage HW upgrades. In my case, I just moved to Iphone 6s late last year. Will be upgrading for a while, but as has been my practice for years, I will stop at some point-- hopefully before a new iOS creates irritants.

A year ago, I got malware on my iPhone 6 and took it to Apple. They just exchanged for another iPhone. It was a rootkit and resisted any sort of reset/reinstallation, etc. I had never heard of this iOS infection, nor had Apple. But they are out there.

The best ones to watch for are a Profile Install warning, if you accept it, everything you do is intercepted, including all password, but it's pretty hard not to notice it.

Oh yeah, that'll expose you to far less malware.

Turned off Java and that seems to be working. Time will tell...
Of course, now certain sites and features don't work. ![]() I'd get a newer phone, but the new ones are huge and I keep my phone in my front pocket. People will think I'm happy to see them. Last edited by A930Rocket; 02-14-2016 at 03:49 AM.. |
