Guess the final bid on this 914-6
I came across this listing on the PP Porsches for sale section. Restored numbers matching 1970 914-6 It has a link to this ebay listing,
The starting price for the auction was $914.06. As of this writing, the current bid is $70,100.00 and the reserve has not yet been met. The market for 914s has been on the rise. But the seller may have overestimated the market with his reserve. Provide your guess as to what the final bid will be and if it will meet the reserve.

Not too many out there in this condition so my guess is the reserve is 80k and it will sell for 85k .

my guess is the reserve is ridiculous, and the final bid will be stupid.

6 months ago, I would have said $90-95k. Given the pessimistic outlook for the immediate future, I'd say the market is a little softer now. I'd say that the seller has a little over $100k in the car.
He should have gone just a little bit further with the restoration, there are some details that might hold the price back. JR |

I like the wheels and the color. It will be at least 60 times what I paid for mine

I simply don't get it. I liked my SC. But the prices are absurd. The car makes 180hp. A new Camry would smoke it in a straight line.

And it probably still has lots of rust around the hell hole / battery compartment. I think they came pre-corroded from the factory like that. Option code FE2O3.

The problem with the shut lines is a combination of poor adjustment and new seals. The front trunk is especially bad when a new seal is installed. In my view, the bulkhead in front of the fuel tank needs to be cut down on these cars.
He should have gone further with the mechanicals. A full rebuild of the motor would have been better than a top-end rebuild. Etc. The car could have been detailed a lot better, especially underneath. Look at the suspension arms, or the exhaust. For a car that is mostly stock, they should have restored it to 100% original. I suspect from the wording of the ad, things like the wheels may have been changed. I don't like cars that have the odometer set to zero after a restoration. It would have been nice to see things like the tool kit in better condition. Etc. JR |

It's still a nice car that could be easily made correct. Most of what's out there, at least publicly advertised, is absolute dreck these days.

Love the North American L-17 Navion and the North American F-86 Sabre in the car show pic.
Don't see those every day. |

Well you can assume that someone who will spend $100K on a collectible car also spends time on the forums.
The Mahle gas burner wheels on the first 914-6 are what makes that car IMO. Fantastic light weight wheels. |
