It was initially scheduled for a normally-snowy area in Alberta, Canada.

Wheres the outrage for Vancouver!?!?!?

thanks for posting. some fond memories therein. i have worked on-set, at every location that was singled out. Movie-wise, the only film mentioned, that i did not work on? The Interview.
dozens of one-on-ones with the so-called stars. basically all of them top notch people, with a few glaring exceptions. ex: buddy was fired for making eye contact with Sylvester Stallone. : )

Are there any Jewish people that still drive the entertainment industry or did they all fade away leaving cracker Lutherans, Catholics, some yellow men and a few agnostics with control?

I mean, if the power Jews are gone in the entertainment business, white people as a whole should clearly be blamed for dissin' the African-Americans.

Otherwise, Jews should take the farkin' rap, not white people.

The AM's can't say that though. That would be unfair. Take the whole white race down instead.

Just a thought.

Another thought is that maybe if an AM actor was good enough they might get the nod.

Here's a hint of the selection process:

Teamster local 155. that's the starting point.
they are accepting applications at this point in time. the value of the Canadian peso has put the business into hyper-drive, in Vancouver.

I will add that I enjoy Chris Rock and his total lack of caring about offending everyone in the audience. As a fellow hater of PC BS at least I can embrace offending just about everyone.

I work pretty deep in Hollywood, but not the deal making side. The "Four Your Consideration" advertising in the LA Times for Oscar nominees is a major revenue source.

I did computer tech work at the studios about 20 years ago... I didn't go around checking foreskins but it was a pretty white environment at that time.
I will tell you there were a lot of alternate lifestyle folks working at the studios (not that there is anything wrong with that)

I feel it is kind of presumptuous to presume white people won't vote for black people. People of different ethnicity have been working together, living together, getting married and living happily ever after for decades.

I'm still waiting to hear who should have got awards that didn't?

Read an article about some Academy member who said he has to look at dozens of films on DVD and basically ran out of time. He looks at the ones with the most hype and prioritizes from there. He said he has nothing against minorities, its just a matter of time to review them, nothing more. I sort of get that.

My brother-in-law is a member of the academy. Works for a large LA company. He is sent all the movies that are nominated beforehand. It's up to him to take the time to view them all. He even gets movies that are not out yet to guage his reaction. But each movie is coded, so if it gets out of his hands they know exactly who it went to. He tries his best to see all of them, and knowing him, he bases his decision on who acts better.

Let's see.......Any time constraints?

Yaphet Kotto - Tremendous supporting actor but there were one or two in Alien that were as good. John Hurt, at least, for the chest bursting scene. In 1980, the Academy nominated Robert Duvall "Napalm in the morning". He did not win. There was serious competition for Yaphet.

Where's the beef?

Yaphet Kotto -
Great actor... but he wasn't in anything (that I see) last year.

Time constrains? I thought we were talking about this years academy awards? I thought that was what all the uproar is about? That no people of color got nominated for this academy awards show?

What current movies/actors got past over this year?

The academy awards are just a popularity contest anyway [did I mention I never watch it?].

Some years they hand out awards to actors just because they are old and may not make it another year.

Yes, Sir. This year IS the topic. My post is a touch cryptic but if there were a contender(s) this year, where's the beef?

Agree with you 100%.

It ain't easy to get the nod even to be on the short list, let alone win.

They are called "screeners" and they are coded but no one is keeping track of whose house they're in and they get passed around plenty among family and friends. I see nearly every film on a free screener.

These two are on cue next:

Sounds like the 'grievance industry' at work.
.

These awards are a circle jerk. Never watched a one Maybe if the public voted?

I laugh at the industry giving itself awards.

I won the award for Best Dad in my House this year! Amazing.

Just watched Straight Outa Compton.

How there was not at least one nomination in at least one category is baffling.

The screeners do not represent the body of works being produced.

That's the issue.

I agree. Surprised it did not get at least acting nominations for Giamatti and the guy who played E. I guess Giamatti would not have helped the diversity situation, though.
