Tabbdulah, if you ever venture outside of LV or SoCal, I will gladly pick up the tab for you. You need it, bro. Seriously. With all due respect, of course.

[QUOTE=motion;9034556]Guy, I so wish that I had been able to experience the Continent back then. You're very lucky. I almost feel like traveling in the smartphone era is cheating.
I often think of my father and mother's lives in WW2. That would have been a great period of time to have experienced. The forced development of cars, aircraft and ships because of the needs of war. Of course the remaining WW2 vets are now in their 80's to 90's and airmen killed in WW2 were about 50 thousand. My father survived the war but it took its toll on him. For myself I have had some great years especially in the 1950's and 1960's. You Motion have many more years left to enjoy and you can do exactly what you like to do. Cheers, Guy |

I have a lot, but don't want to turn this into a travel blog. I would rather create a bit of mystery, in the hopes that someone will be inspired to go see for themselves!
Drove a rental BMW 320 to Delph todayi, then up into the mountains and over along the sea today. About 300 miles. That thing was a gas hog!

I'm not sure... haven't counted. Somewhere in the 80-95 range. I'm adding a bunch more this year, but I don't think I'll break 100 this year. A lot of the guys on Flyertalk are 150+. Makes me feel totally inadequate, LOL.

South of France would be my choice, for stashing a bike. Vence, perhaps. Fantastic riding around there.
i purchased my bike there, planning on leaving it there. too many problems with registration, so i shipped it back to Vancouver. ![]() |

Motion, I too love the travel stories and your experiences in far away places. (retired USAF airlifter here). We used to have an air base there (Hellenikon) and it was a great base of ops for traveling the region. I sure miss those days. Keep on keeping on.

Denis: Looks like Africa Twin 750s go between 2,000-3,500 euro in Greece. That's CHEAP! Example of a nicer one: HONDA XRV 750 AFRICA TWIN 2002 Used Moto | Use Google Chrome translate extension to view in English.

I spent months working the angles, beforehand. insurance and registration is a nightmare, unless one wants to be somewhat fraudulent. i had already purchased the bike from a bike shop owner, in Kent England (before researching insurance, etc). he had advertised it on the Super Tenere network. my registration and insurance were a bit questionable. i never got stopped, thankfully : )
here is what i will would do, any other method will cause you grief, pretty sure. contact martin at Motofeirme | Ride your bike, in Europe! tell him you want an Africa Twin. He will find you a nice one. For a fair price. He has an angle. he can get the bike registered and insured legally in Ireland. he as well has storage facilities and a b and b. He is honest and reliable. Lots of easy transport ,via boat, to Spain and France. |
