In the same line of reasoning, a mid-2000s Peugeot 206 was loads of fun to drive in Costa Rica. Because of the car, laws and traffic you can't get up too fast in the mountains but you can still have a great time. Reminded me of the early '90s Honda CRX.

A hot rodded RS6 with a 6 speed , a 69 nova tunnel ram 454 4 spd 4.56 gear , a full house wide body 911 that would posi black track in 3rd gear, a 70 monte big block 4spd car (still own it) , F430 paddle shift , a Mondial, a 600sel.

In order of funness:

My '56 Speedster. When it was "just a car" it was an absolute hoot. Now that it's worth more than my house it scares me to death.

A 1275 Mini Cooper I had 40 years ago. It was a go-cart with a roof.

My 911

My '47 Dodge truck before I restored it. When it was still a POS I went through a drive-thru with a load on manure in the back, etc. A total hoot. Now that it is spotless and perfect I'm afraid to drive it. Lesson - don't restore a car you like.

Las Vegas Speedway had a press driving experience about 10 years ago. Three laps in one of their newby-grade formula cars was fun, fun, fun.

My E39 540/6 is truly a joy to drive everyday. It sounds like a an angry v8 (cat and reso deleted w Dinan can), it is a true luxury car and with the minor suspension updates ive done turns in like a 2700lb car...

Ive been passenger in some seriously fast straight line stuff 600-1200whp, but that doesnt count

Easy-73 914-6 hillclimb car that was barely streetable. Had a 2.7 sorta RS motor...loud, smelly hoot.

Normal cars? My first drive in my E28 M5 opened my eyes WIDE as to what a real performance car was.

Next was an aircooled 911 which I test drove but did not buy.

im a fan of any small, light, sports cars. my mr2 spyder and miata are both great drives, the new ND has me tempted.

Of the Porsches that I have owned, the '55 356 Outlaw was crazy fun, about 1400 lbs with about 170 hp. I would go out and chase corvettes and catch them!

When I managed Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories back in the 80s-90s, my boss had 14 cars consisting of mostly old Ferraris including a 275GTB NART, a 61 SWB Cal Spider, a 330GT Spider, all a blast to drive. But I'd have to say the first AMG Hammer was the most fun and scariest thing I've ever driven.

Currently the most fun machine is my '32 Ford "Little Deuce Coupe!"

My first car was a late 1960s AH Sprite...a blast to drive (lightweight, good handling).

My 911...250,000 miles on it now. That says something.

My GT40. So much better a car than I am a driver. My heart rate goes up just looking at it, and driving it....

The two that I felt like were the most fun to drive, for the car itself:
911SC. Why? The handling.
Fiat 124 Spider. Why? Fun little convertible. Fairly nimble.


Others that I had a lot of fun with. They weren't particularly special vehicles, but they were special to me, or were "at the right place, at the right time" during my yout.

Jeep CJ8. Why? I had it when I went to college the first time. Did lots of offroading. Got to drive it in some reasonably good snow.

Plymouth Barracuda. Why? My second car that took me for a lot of firsts. Ya know?

several Dodge trucks. Why? Who can deny the fun of a good old beater truck??!

Pontiac GTO. Why? My first car.

And then there was so much rolling stock that I just couldn't give two flying f**ks about.

Most fun to drive for the driving experience:

- My 911.
- A family member's 356C (long time ago).

Also fun to drive for other reasons (had a lot of fun with these, not necessarily just driving):

- My old Audi Fox. My friend with his BMW 2002 and I had a never-ending battle to see which was fastest in a variety of situations. We never did decide...

- My old Dodge pickup - three on the tree, slant six, holes in the floor, sagging springs - an original "lead sled".

- 86 930. That was one fun car to drive and shooting flames had me lol'ing!
- 86 Grand National. Tuned/modded by Kenne Bell. That car could light up the tires at speed!
- 05 E55. Stupid crazy torque and sc whine. Haven't had that kind of fun since the GN. Made me giggle like a little girl when lighting up the tires.
- 08 Boxster. Puts a smile on my face everytime I drive her.
- 02 Cooper S. As a daily, that car was a blast to drive. Nimble and quick.
- 10 Cooper S. Great daily, blast to drive and built better than the 02.

I had a Fiat 124 coupe with Abarth suspension and some engine tweaks that was a ball to drive. It had 8"x13" wheels with low profile tires and would go around corners like crazy! Currently, my fav drive is my 1980 SC w/3.3SS engine!

It amounts to the right horse for the right course.

I love my '90 Miata on a twisty road. It is not suited to the superslab.
The old E would eat up either, but when the temperature dropped, the fun factor dropped with the cabin temp.
The 924S did almost everything well. It could be fun, but felt asleep at legal speeds.
My '87 4000Q was a hoot in the snow. I was still a bit of a hooligan in those days. I passed a snowplow on the way home from the city one afternoon and before I got home heard on the radio another car had struck a plow while trying to overtake it in about the same place. Made me think.
I'm older and wiser these days. I hardly ever do stupid stuff like that, regardless of the vehicle I'm driving.

First on the list...
1. 911 (my 81 just because its MINE and I don't mind flogging it)
2. My Fiat X1/9 that I had many years ago. A spectacular chassis in desperate search of an engine... So good to drive at full hilt that it was almost intuitive!
3. The spyder (550 replica - 911 engine w/914 transaxle and Quaiffe). It's a handful, but I absolutely guarantee that it is NEVER boring!
