Well, the suspension is still stock... and I haven't touched the headers yet...

I'd also be interested in ways to make the car lighter without negatively affecting the comfort level. For example, a simple solution is the seats, but I really like having the seat warmers. I'm thinking about maybe experimenting with pulling out some of the crappy plastic trim in the trunk and frunk, but not sure how much weight that would eliminate.

At least the Fabspeed exhaust shed about 40-50 lbs over stock...

Recaros does have heat as option in some of their seats! Just sold a set of heated Sportsters this week. Great looking seat, not sure how much weight savings it would be over stock. What's the stock seat weigh?

I've been trying to think of a way to do lighter door cards. Problem is working around the airbag in the door!

That's some good info -- thanks for sharing. Based on this, it looks like stock OEM sport seats are about 45-50lbs each and GT3 seats are about 30lbs each. I once had a NA 944 with Corbeau seats that weighed 18lbs each... but I likes me my seat-warmers...

There was a thread at Planet-9 awhile ago made by a guy going to extreme measures to reduce weight for autocross. Like, he was taking out the headlights, taillights, pass. seat, all superficial panels just to save a few lbs. I can't find the thread now, though!

These seems like good deal but I don't see one where the IMS issue or any other issues addressed. How much does it cost to address the issues and how much mileage can I expect once addressed? Was hoping to daily drive it. School me. Thanks

You can't address the IMS issues on those cars. Not in a way that makes financial sense anyway. The bearing is wider than the hole you'd extract it from, so you have to split the case. Not really cheap - that's the irony (the older maligned 996/986 era cars can get a new bearing, but not those). On those cars, you fix the water pump, the AOS, the coolant caps, and you change the oil frequently and drive them hard all the while crossing your fingers that you don't fall foul of the small statistical chance of blowing one up. Folks will tell you it's super rare, they will be correct, but it does happen and f it happens to you, it will be expensive. If I were to buy another (lovely cars), I'd buy a warranty and sleep well.

I've ridden in an '07 Cayman, but haven't driven one. Can a guy who is 6'4" be comfortable driving that car?

Ok autocrossed the car this weekend. Felt really good and lots of fun. I feel so pampered, spoiled to the point of guilty. Lol. Damn thing stays on course even while sliding on outdated tires. Fyi... I'm a crappy driver.
