Look for a kit from iCraked.
https://www.icracked.com/ It'll come with nice printed step by step instructions as well as every tool you'll need.

My iPhone 4 was easy. iPhone 5, well, after watching the video, I had it done for $60.
Watch a YouTube vid, then decide if it's worth it to DIY. |

Did two Ipods for my youngest. Not hard to do but the problem I had was the screen adhesive (basically 2 sided tape) didn't stick well.

I did my MacBook Pro screen for about $20 and LOTS of patience. Half a day or so. totally worth it.

I did my wife's iPhone 4 once. It was not difficult but involved an hour of Tourette's... Not worth my time to save $20. It was seriously frustrating.
I have had our iPad 1 fixed 3 times. The first time was a total botch job where they bent the frame and got the screen crooked. Make sure you get it done by someone with some reviews who will stand behind their work.

Several kits on Amazon. I did my iPhone 5. It did take some effort to get it apart, but wasnt too bad. The insides basically snap together like Legos.

I've used the kits from cracked.com to repair iPhone 6 and 4 twice. Great videos and instructions.

I repaired my Ipad Air from a kit on Amazon - search for highest rated kit you can find.
Not fun at all, glass shattered and spent HOURS getting every little piece out. Thank the stars I hate TV - I spent a whole evening in the dining room pulling microscopic glass shards out of the Ipad. I would do a Nano or an Iphone given that experience but - Next time, if it is an Ipad - I pay someone.

Did an iPhone 4 and 4s - easy peasy. Just keep track of where you put things and have a good quiet place for an hour or two.
If those ADD kids in the mall kiosks with all the tats and piercings can do them all day I'm sure a patient, focused, intelligent adult with mechanical aptitude certainly can. Heck, if you can do 911 valves... |
