hmm I don't think you should start a thread on how you scared some kids with your loud porsche..

Nevertheless, Is the Mk loud or the headers making the difference?

Does the act of simply replacing a stock exhaust with a less restrictive header exhaust automatically increase horsepower? Or does the engine need to be re-tuned or rechipped to take advantage of the new exhaust? I would think the latter since the engine timing and cam is the same as it always was, right? Is it like having a larger diameter garden hose but not turning the faucet any higher? To take advantage you need to turn up the faucet?
Garden hose can be used for a good analogy, and I think you are on the right track.

From my understanding, it is really a function of the system as a whole. If in a stock or factory design, the exhaust system is the most restrictive part of the system, then yes, replacing would allow more overall system flow (higher performance) up to the point that restrictions in fuel/air delivery (intake size, valve lift and duration, etc...) become evident. then there is compression and ignition and all that to consider as well. A chip combined with an exhaust system is a cost effective way to increase performance on a 3.2l

However, simply putting a SSI system and performance muffler on your 3.2L does not automatically turn you into a complete clueless ignorant a**hole by default.

I am running SSIs and a RSR muffler design with a SW chip on my 86 3.2L. I did before and after kiddie dyno runs. I strapped my 3 year girl to a creeper and towed her around the neighborhood doing 1st thru 3rd gear pulls to redline. After which she simply stated: "I want to go watch Daniel Tiger" I fixed her a snack, put her in front of her show, and then did the swap.
Doing the same test after the swap resulting in her not even being able to scream or cry. She just sort of shook in wide eyed terror in her mother's arms. the wife was not happy. I figured that was good for at least 15 extra horse powers! If the wife threatened divorce, we surely would have been looking at least a 25hp gain.

Mountain lions don't hunt and attack groups of people. They usually don't hunt people at all unless they are starving. We aren't their prey image. They hunt four legged things, so unless the kids were crawling they were perfectly safe hiking in lion country.

It's unfortunate that it upsets people sometimes, but you really can't please everyone.
that RPM range is pretty sweet. they truly are happy running there. The whirr of the fan and chains surrounded by the anxious howl of the exhaust. The sense of throttle position just by listening to the sound......yeah. And that modulation of slow roll from very slight throttle to full......no way to truly describe it.

but doing so in 3rd gear....while driving on a road where you can feel the lateral Gs while cornering...negotiating the corner using throttle? a road that is really putting the car thru its paces? we are kinda getting up there in speed, and one needs to also be aware of it. in most cases, probably ticket worthy if observed. Throw in a unexpected condition like someone with a flat around the next corner. Maybe some cyclist enjoying a nice road ride outside the city....Or a family getting ready to hike out for he day....It can all go south so quickly. It is a very fine line at this point with what needs to be reserved for the track and what is acceptable on the public road.

I live out of the city. I've many GOOD roads a turn or two from my neighborhood. And I do enjoy driving them whenever I can get out. But, along these roads are many very high end homes on big wooded lots. I have been howling along and have come across folks walking along the road. I always shut it down and come off speed immediately. And it is great to see the expressions go from startled to questioning to a grin with a thumbs up.

After reading my last post I was focusing more on getting the 911 out for stretch today after work than why we were here to begin with. It's a beautiful cool sunny day here, and it's gonna be nice!

as far as "DickDick Bafoon" goes....I suspect the situation is pretty common. He is actually a 12 year old, maladjusted boy, living out some type of fantasy of owning a 911, while pretending to be a quick witted internet rebel.

"who care what the public thinks" and all that. Making personal attacks about a car another forum member has.....my god.

yeah. And another thing.......about this thread's title "on passing".

Perhaps the 7th grade before one is allowed to post?

Sorry, not true, mountain lions will hunt and eat humans, and small children if wandering/exploring alone might prove to be a tasty snack for a lion.
The mountain lion population has increased in our area, every county park in our area has mountain lion warning signs posted.

Even in your own thread, you bring nothing but the weakest of sauces to the table.
Now that some adults have sat down here, it is time for you to take yourself down the road to the kiddie's table......

maybe there is a another car forum where you'll impress and bedazzle others beyond your wildest dreams?

I know....it's almost has if he meant to say it either way. Like if we are all buds sitting around together having this ridiculous conversation and having a good laugh about it. And DDB.....he can hardly pronunciate thru all the spit and slobber and staccato-ed breathing. And he says something like "retread". Some calls him on it....and he says "Nu-uh!!! I meant to say that!!!! I was being....Ironic....uuuhh!!!"

and then back when he said:

"where I did I say I did anything,in violation of" in post #13. It thru me a few times. I kept having to REREAD it and I wound up hearing porky pig in my head:

Ablee-Ablee-Ablee that's all folks!!

we are just having a little fun......

look at it this way. I am sure in a few hours you'll be able to hop back in your Porsche-A and get back out on the road and show everybody around you how tuff of a guy you are! Ya know...... scared the living schit out of'em and make sure to let them know who they're dealing with! Nothing like putting other people in fear for their owns lives (and.....that of their children? WTF?) to get your point across, right?

Either that or fire up the gaming system and get live with it, and trash talk your jr high buddies to try to get the same effect.

If this is your idea of "fun" your life is sadder and more pathetic than originally thought.
But if it keeps you from yelling at the neighborhood kids, its worth it.

20 whole people killed in last 120 years. Wow! Not a lot, eh. Sighting have increased but there hasn't been attack in your area since 2014. Attacks are not common.

Every trailhead I leave has bear warning and cougar signs. I don't remember the last time an attack of either happened and I have seen both on the trail in the last 12 months.

Your driving is more likely to hurt or kill someone than a mountain lion.
