Some people say you will pick up 5 to 10 HP just by ditching the cat and adding the right muffler.
As for the rest of the thread, I wasn't there, and now I'm sorry I'm here. Loud pipes save lives. Have fun, be safe, don't over drive your line of sight. And get off my lawn. |

Suppose I'm blessed to be a part of the SoCal car culture, as kids of all ages here are most likely to give thumbs up admiration to a fire breathing boxer at full song. My B&B headers & muffler are sporty enough and running as rich as my 930 does, I can blow 2 feet of dual outlet flames at will.
I'd like a zork ... unfortunately it'd be just too hypocritical of me considering how peeved I am at Harley biker noise levels.

to stay on revised topic, the muffler in the video is an M&K fed by ssi's with the heater boxes cut off on a carbed 3.0l..

juan, that is such a cool video. I haven't watched the whole thing, but I will once the wife passes out. I would love to race.....I am trying to stay diligent with the track time and gain experience. But, I just don't ever think I'd have the budget. While my car is truely a full blown track/ DE car under the leather interior, I would not be able to walk away from it in the event something were to happen (like stuff it into a wall to avoid a family out for their morning hike). Beautiful track work man.....congratulations on living a dream out there! |

yep yep, the car I built & raced has sold. might have been too much for me to handle, but as the video shows I raced once upon a time. it's better to have been a racer for even a moment than to have been a spectator for a life time. when you have raced a lap even I will tip my cap to you sir. until then you are just another wanna be driver with some loud exhaust & unproven skills driving a 911past a prius being proud enough of that to tell us all about it.

hey, our thread has been moved!
and here I am this morning....taking a moment to do my part to get this thread back onto a technical track.....as it relates to power band torque curves, the use of howling exhaust in place of horns, and rubber adherence at the apex!!
I did not have the opportunity to get out for a drive yesterday afternoon as I had hoped. But I was able to this morning, and it was wonderful. completely clear day here, and nice and cool. And yes, I was a total badass with my badass car....BEHOLD!!: ![]() (I apologize for the slightly blurry image, as I was, in fact, in mid-flight when I snapped the pic) I was screaming along the straight, coming up on a nice wide, decreasing radius left hander (so you know this was going to need throttle roll on if I were to survive this one!). I swung wide all the way to the right, as wide as permitted by the peloton of cyclist out enjoying their morning (remember share the road!!) A quick glance into the rear view confirmed to me that we all knew the score: Their lead was up over his bars, having been sucked into the massive eddy current created by my ducktail. I saw his look of sheer terror turn to angry determination as he realized his altered form decreased his frontal surface area, immediately accelerating him into the wonderful wake kindly given him and his squad by the ice green metallic one I shall from this point forward refer to as "booger". The the rest of the pack was pumping their phist in jubilation, cheering.......no screaming!!! me on: "GO! GO! GO!" Coming into the corner, I lifted to induce my expert-lee executed TTOS maneuver. PERFECT!! I begin to rotate, and quickly roll on the throttle!!! My super wide back tires begin to spin and the back end continues on a slightly less aggressive trajectory!! PERFECT!!! turning in towards a late apex at this point. I thought to myself: "Quick man!! This is your moment!" I release the cam buckle, grab the camera, and heave myself from my seat and out the window in one fluid motion. Head down, hands at waste!!! I am out and over the door, half way thru my 1.5 reverse modified eastern block gainer. Now.....the moment of truth........CLICK....... Now for all you photography experts that have been so kind to have taken the time to listen to my tale up to this point. On this detail is what separates the men from the boys......Did I have the camera inverted (remember, I am upside down at this point, looking back at my car), or did I simply rotate my image 180deg before I posted? Hhhmmmmmmm...... I usually take an extra moment to snap several pics, but time was not to spare because of the technical nature of this shot. I complete my maneuver, light on the feet and quick on the toes with a strong snap to my left. With a twist and a half, I am feet first thru the driver's window of the ghostly booger, screaming in triumph: "Fear not, lonely booger, your master has returned victorious!!" My foot is now back into the accelerator and I exit on a safely executed, late apex turn! Take second look at the above photo. Note: sufficiently desired weight transfer to outside wheels, hard acceleration lifting the front inside wheel slightly, tire marks left by wide rear wheels. Very slight counter steer to keep from over rotating the car...Yes......yes......all perfectly executed to the extent that young booger can surely drive himself!! This whole drive was just so enjoyable, I had to stop for a moment and take another shot: ![]() aahhhh......yes, a great morning drive indeed. Hey Bafoon.......if you want to keep referring to me as your daddy's dad, then ya know, that's o.k. later guys! Last edited by chrisf; 03-26-2016 at 09:38 AM.. |

You guys fell for it. Never wrestle with a pig. You'll both get dirty and the pig loves it. The OP wants attention.
Don't feed the trolls.

well joe, the thing of it is.......this guys post about blasting by a parked car at WOT, 5000 rpm while passing, what is in fact, not a "static" slalom pole, but a very dynamic car driven by a human. A human that may not be paying attention, texting.....distracted. Only during the stated event did he become aware that there were children in very close proximity. Sometimes situations are not what we understand them to be. It is at this point, I would believe most would take a few days to reflect and say to themselves..."damn. I should maybe be a little more cautious." This guy gets online and post about it in a braggadocios manner. Now, some say he did nothing wrong. He says he didn't break the law or whatever. What gear was he in? 3rd? Well, that's anywhere in the 'hood of what? 70, 80 mph? Yeah that's probably speeding. Then consider the scenario if something had gone wrong. Prius drifts, contact is made.....worst case one or more of the kids is killed. Extreme scenario? perhaps. But it does happen. And in this "worst case" scenario, our Bafoon is now potentially looking at doing serious time if it is found he acted in reckless manner with disregard to other's safety. Oh, BTW, Bafoon.....a little research here shows this is not the first time you have posted about how you drive, nor is it the first time you have been called on it by other forum members. Your own descriptions of the manner in which you drive (really kind of boring compared to my exploits, right?) at times is a manner in not complete control. You may argue that drifting and sliding on public roads in the rain is acceptable because....I don't know? You are some kind of expert, etc, etc....But I guarantee you, when it comes to the matter of public record....it's another story. Which bring us to where we are now.....public record. Keep that in mind. As far as feeding the trolls Joe? I have never known this type of stuff to be posted in the tech forum, much less anywhere I am aware of on PP. By not calling this sort of behavior out, we are in fact encouraging it. I wouldn't want our tech forum to become like many of the other car forums out there today. We are better than that, and I believe it will take active participation from like minded members to keep it like that.. I am surprised you didn't comment on my morning drive joe. not entertaining? Good to see you got that 2.7 of yours running well. Looks good. I remember when you were just getting started on it. Still in the club? Concerning your writing skills... Good to hear from you.
![]() I agree that his driving sounds reckless but after the initial condemnation of driving like Magnus Walker, the rest is all just feeding the troll.

ya know joe, Bafoon doesn't have to be the only one to be enjoying this. While I was at Auburn, I had a LitII prof that tried for years to convince me I was a literary genius, and that I should write short stories. Said I could with out a doubt make a very comfortable living doing it. He allowed me to sit in many of his grad level classes. Sometimes I do find inspiration to break out the....keyboard. a little rusty and slow witted I am sure, but I still enjoy it. Watch juan's video! It's fun. oh, and the 2.7 always ran well......don't you remember those AX in Athens? that one is now in Huntsville.....going into some type of SWB hot rod or something. Know why there are so many stereotypes about Porsche owners? Look in the mirror, just because you have enough money to buy an expensive toy doesn't make you any better than anyone else. I post this stuff to bring the turds to the surface, and it looked like it worked! Joke is on you, you bit. Now get out to the garage and polish that car that you never drive, if you really have a Porsche, that is.....
