On passing....

Driving to work, a fine day, light traffic. Come up on a Prius slalom pole, no biggie, passing straight ahead. Back off a touch going into the corner before the straight, at the apex the loud pedal was on the floor, 3500RPMs and building, swing into the clear opposite lane and make a clean pass. As we were going past a parked car, at 5000RPM and pulling like a freight train, I look over at a car well on to the shoulder where a hiker was herding his kids to the right side of the car to get away from the pissed off Porsche on the pipe. Who needs a horn when SSIs and an M&K muffler will do the same.

Bikes hear me from a few hundred yards back. I can see them tense up, visibly freeze mid stroke. Corner or not, I'm coming around, and they know it. I blast by, shrieking like a pissed off predator chasing down slow prey. It's my road....get used to it.

Awesome.

Yea this is in the wrong forum. This belongs in the 'scaring small kids driving like Magnus walker on city streets forum or the 'I don't have anything "technical" to say so I wrote this' forum'. Moderators?

Didn't take long, the waist band at nipple height, "you kids get off my lawn" crowd would surface.
This is tech, I was referring to the torque band as it relates to SSIs and the M&K muffler.
Too easy really....

My reading comprehension is just fine, your chain is short and too tempting, look there is a neighbor kids dog on your lawn....

Usually from some dude using this site to sell "whatever". Panties all in a bunch.

I was describing rubber adherence at the apex. Keep it floored or swap ends. They're discussing this in the turbocharged forum in the RIP thread.

try passing someone in a 930 even with a moderately loud muffler. I think one guy would have shot me if he had a gun.
cant imagine a zork tube.

my brother has one of rarelyl8's mufflers andn he passed me on my right. I seriously thought he blew my eardrum. problem is I only have one good ear and that was it.

I prefer to do that sort of driving on the track. Safe legal and you can go as fast as you are able.

sure enough. I would wager that the braggers and boasters in this thread have not spent lap one on a track in the 911 or whatever.

And no, I am not some old fart trying to peddle or sell some parts here. But, obviously more mature and conservative then Mr. Boom.

The fact that you would publicly post and boast about screaming by another car with children standing on the shoulder of the road says more about you than anything anyone else ever could.

I've done some pretty stupid schit in my time, so I am not innocent. And I still occasionally drive faster than maybe I should.

Hey, have you ever heard of the S.T.A.R. human performance tool? Or how about the practice of thinking to yourself "What could go wrong" or "What could have gone wrong"? Or what would or would have been the consequences?

How about a cambered Honda Civic with obligatory fart can? Ever think of that?

Oh....BTW.......aaahhhhh.....not really mad or anything like that guys (in response to the "old man" and "yanking chain" comments). Just gonna sit back and watch you fling your poo all over each other. Something to that effect maybe?

Same crowd, different screen names, you sure spent a lot of time typing your particular brand of gibberish.....where I did I say I did anything,in violation of the state vehicle code....you guys are too easy.
So which is it, more conservative or driving faster than you should, just a touch of.......
Quick, fly spec on your hood....

It can be fun to pass someone and open the car up a little. As long as OP isn't breaking laws or endangering people, spirited driving is a big part of owning these cars. It's worth noting the 3500-5500 rpm range is the most rewarding part; the sound is nice, the acceleration is good, the traction is excellent under acceleration. It's unfortunate that it upsets people sometimes, but you really can't please everyone.

The true irony was the herding hiker, was saving his kids from the loud Porsche, as he was getting ready to take his young kids hiking into an area of unprecedented mountain lion activity. I saw one recently on the side of the road and when I drove past, it looked over at my car with casual disinterest, mountain lion, that is.....

SSIs and an M&K muffler reminds me of something I've always wanted to ask, so I am very glad this thread was started.

Does the act of simply replacing a stock exhaust with a less restrictive header exhaust automatically increase horsepower? Or does the engine need to be re-tuned or rechipped to take advantage of the new exhaust? I would think the latter since the engine timing and cam is the same as it always was, right? Is it like having a larger diameter garden hose but not turning the faucet any higher? To take advantage you need to turn up the faucet?
