The Hosers must have pissed off the hockey gods last night - 2 early whistles - the 2nd, under the heading - egregious - diddled them out of a least 1 goal. But, as they say - that's the way things go...sometimes. Who's betting on the Pens to tie the series tonight? - although the prevailing sentiment amongst you Eastern cats seems to be you really don't care all that much. Enjoy the game Gents.

Speaking of Marchand. Look out, he may be coming to one of you guys teams. His contract is up this year and he's UFA. |
I have to admit - the Pens looked fairly decent last night. The Bolts better solve their opposition's overall team speed if they intend on making a series of it. Blues are also in need of a 'bounce-back' game after being SO'd. Should be an interesting couple of days coming up.

A slight tangent guys.....anybody know where to watch the IIHF matches? It's US v Canada Saturday and I can't find a TV listing. Of course I don't have a TV subscription so i'll need to go to the bar and tell them what channel to get.
TIA |
The US did not send a strong team to the World Championships because the World Cup is in September, it's just too much hockey for most players.

Did anyone watch the Pens comeback in the third period last night?
They almost pulled off the come from behind win of the year. Down 4-0 going into the third and frankly, their play in 1 and 2 were terrible. Third period was a whole different story. I almost turned it off at 2nd intermission thinking it was a done deal. Even though the Pens lost 4-3. They have major morale and momentum with a come from behind period like that. The Bolts are going to have a tough time getting the memory of the last 20 minutes of game 4 out of their head. |
I made the same mistake & really have no excuse as I had the game PVR'd. I just flat-out baled. Last night's game started to take on the same trend, a 4-0 game with the losing team scoring a goal but St. Loo came back with a fifth goal -so that was it. I went back out in to my garage & worked on my seized brake calipers. I finally went to the "grease gun" method after numerous tries with compressed air - a bit on the messy side (post clean-up) but worked it like a charm.
Fleury will get the start tonight (late afternoon out here) - should be good. Cheers JB |
Canada shut out team Finland to win the gold at the World Championship 2-0.
Marschand was an asset for Canada, scoring 4 and 3 assists. He was at +9 and had 10 penalty minutes. |

JB: You'd think I'd learn. I watched the whole game Pens/Bolts game and was rewarded with a 4-3 finish but shut off the Blues/Sharks game last night at 4-0. |

I wonder if the 'Blewz' can pull it off today. I think San Jose just might have a little more gas left & will take out St. Loo - but then again - I have a less than stellar track record when picking winners. It started to look as though it was to be "déjà vu all over again" last night when the Bolts finally showed up & came out firing in the 3rd period but that 4th Pens goal sealed the deal. I also wonder if we are not getting "hockeyed-out" - cup finals into June then the World Cup in mid Sept. (9 1/2 months - a long season makes.) Cheers JB |
The Crosby haters have to accept that he has scored all three winning goals against Tampa.
No such thing as too much hockey. |
I'm typing this from San Jose (up for biz). There were some Blues fans on the flight up from LAX. I'm rooting for STL as I'd like to see a game 7. No dog in any of the fights, but there have been some fun games to watch.

Another great playoff series. Here's hoping that it translates into the Cup final. |

Game 7 tonight...oh baby...not much else like a game 7 in the NHL.
|
OK so not the best game 7.
