First thing is we wouldn't be in this position, having a weak leader is what put us there. Putin knowing we have a pansy is why this stuff happens.

The defense of Putin is funny here from the left.

I didn't read the article above, but yesterday the article that I read said that the Russian plane had no weapons on board.

Would you be the weak leader that put our Navy in this position, I guess you would then. What would you do keep this from happening? Send Kerry over with James Taylor to sing songs to Putin.

In what position? Would I tell them not to go to the Polish port of Gdynia? No. There is no reason to avoid our allies just be cause Putin won't give Obama a reach-around when he visits. I would tell the Navy to go about its business and if they are attacked to neutralize the threat.

Tell me, should we stay out of international waters and avoid allies geologically close to Russia just because some nutjob is trying to make himself relevant?

I still don't understand what you are trying to say so help me out. I might just be that dense.

Well maybe so. Why is it so hard to understand, the reasons Putin can and will do these things. It isn't just one ship and one time, it is eight years of bending over and apologizing, giving and not getting anything in return. Drawing red lines and backing off, again and again and again. The world knows what has happened and Putin is shoving it in obaama's face. It's sad what the left has done to America.

I know why Putin is doing it, the question is, what to do about it. No on e seems to have a solution.

Maybe we are on the same page, but you say face and I say butt. Though the face would explain the no reach-around for Obama.

I hate to interject any sort of reality into this other wise idiotic thread, but back in the day (1980's) at the height of Cold War tensions, we pretty much had a russki cruiser within 1 mile of our carrier everyday 24/7 while in WestPac. It was just how it was. In the Med, we went through a time when US ships and russki's played chicken and we actually had collisions at sea.

When you openly operate near a Russian base, you will get buzzed. You are in international waters and airspace.

Although I generally agree that Obama has neutered the last remaining super power, and Putin ain't afraid, this stuff Is just part of the game. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Back when USSR was able to muster the occasional creditable air power threat at sea (remember that we are about the only Navy that can sustain carrier ops in international waters), it was commonly believed that we tailed their task groups also - with attack subs. Don't bring a knife to a gun fight.

You *do not* want to follow with a missile lock in peace time, why? It gives out exactly how your missiles lock on...

The USA did lots of fake attacks into Russian territory expressly to get the lock on radars to activate if possible. This is why airliners get shot down from time to time...

Oops, sorry, I meant that for the other guy.

Exactly, not attacked, so we didn't do anything wrong.

I don't think we have had F-14's for quite some time. Or are you think of asking the Iranians to help us out?

Back in the early 1980s, the ship I was on had a sub that was following us around most of the time we were out and about. There was usually a P-3 keeping an eye on them, and we had helos that would go screw with them too.

Pretty sure it was not the Penguin
