Just some old ELPH's I've collected off the Goodwill site. Nothing fancy that's for sure but they fit in a pocket since they're about the size of a deck of cards, take video's and have a macro setting (as seen in the pic above, sans flash). Works for me when I'm not serious about shooting.

That's the thing. There are times when I'm out and about and can take a pic I absolutely love and would like to blow it up and frame it. These were taken with a 3.2 Powershot. Not much you can do them in terms of printing.

I used to shoot with a CoolPix 995 Nikon which was 3.2meg if I recall. I have some prints on my wall from it, but they are only 8x10's or so.
These ELPH's are 7.1's which is fine for printing up to 8.5x11 I'd say.
I have them more for the video feature than the stills. It works as my cheapo go-pro setup.

I'm not usually impressed with the special effect dodads a lot of consumer cameras come with, but I found one on this D-3300 that is really useful. It will take panoramic photos.

Here is a shot off the deck of our condo taken at 25 mm.

Here is a shot taken using the pano special effect. I was still learning to use it and it was shot at at about 30 mm focal length, and I only got in about 150 degrees of the view, but it could have captured as much as 180 degrees. This photo is much more like what you actually see when you look off the deck. It's a better representation of the experience.

You know what's ironic about that pano shot? When you live there, you can't really appreciate the view. I find that panoramic shots are useful for capturing a moment in time, like after finishing a building or something. I barely take shots anymore of the beach, for example.

Here's a few from the deck. I'm more interested in my cigar and beer than taking the shot, but friends always ask me how the weather is, so I just send them a picture.

A lotta camera for not too much scratch WD. Enjoy!

I carried an SLR everywhere for 30 years and I am over it now. High res, compact cameras are my new favorite imaging tools. Trading interchangeable lenses for portability didn't always make sense to me. Now it makes perfect sense. Give me good optics, low light capability, shooting flexibility, and a large sensor. I am good to go.

I hear you. Light weight, compact - a lot to like. I went there and came back, but if it works for you, it works.
