Thinking about AAA

Planning a few long distance drives this summer and in case if i get stranded somewhere remote I might find myself in a situation to look for a tow, roadside assistance etc.

I keep hearing a lot of Pelicans have AAA memberships. Is it worth it? Can you share experiences?

Thanks in advance

AAA is a must have . Get the plus for 100 miles tow. Great peace of mind .
One tow is more than yearly the membership fee.

Worth every penny . Plus discount at hotels flights rentals , amusement park and much more .

Why not adding on roadside service to your current insurance? For me, it was less cost...state farm insurance.

annoying amount of junk mail, but worth it when you break down.

I had road side with geico , I used them twice that year . The following year I was shopping for lower insurance . called State Farm and they gave me a very high quote , when ask for the reason , i was told that I had two claims . Obviously the two tows were counted as claims . That's the reason why I never use the insurance road side.

Oh god yes. AAA offered to cover hotel when my truck was stolen while camping, and covered tow/impond when it was found 4 weeks later. When I was stuck in the 356 they were willing to send a flat bed from 200 miles away when there wasn't one local. I'll never let my wife or kids not have it. Worth every penny when you need it.

FWIW each state's (or region's) AAA group is separate from the others. There is no single, nationwide AAA organization. So the different levels of membership (regular, Plus, RV, etc) and their differnt benefits may vary slightly from state to state. And while they usually honor each others' benefits, there is no obligation to do so. I found that out when my motorcycle died in Washington state (i was living in Oregon) and the WA AAA group wouldn't tow my bike, even though I had coverage that included bikes on my Oregon policy. I can't recall the details, but one state covered bikes under the Plus membership, but the other state required RV membership to do so.

Definitely worth it. Our AAA Plus membership paid for itself a couple of times when we were saddled with the Black Pig (a low mileage 03 Ford F150 4x4) that used to like eating it's 5 spd. manual box when we were in transit to or from Ocean City MD and our home in NJ. Twice in 3 years! Never cost me a cent either time, and it was over 100 miles .

YES,

Besides the towing, not having to deal with the DMV when I have issues is great.

I've had AAA for my whole adult life. It's been worth it. Definitely.

Been a member for years. Last year we switched Auto and Home insurance to AAA and saved a couple of grand per year.

I've had it for 30 years.
They towed our truck from I-64. when the fuel pump crapped out. They showed up in 30 minutes.
It's a must if you have an old 911. My old car was flat bedded several times including the race track.
I also use their car/home insurance.

I used to pay for my wife to have AAA.
Then it occurred to me that if any of my friends need a tow, they call me and I show up with my flatbed trailer.
Dropped AAA, never used it when we had it, never wished we had it since.

Dude I own ALFA's and AAA is the way to go. Had a card since 1984. Family in R.I. Been driving down there for the last 35 years and broke down twice and had to get towed a couple of times, and AAA was there. Get the GOLD!!

My Dad was a garage owner and even he had the UK equivalent. He always used to say that if a flat would occur it would be in the rain or snow on a country road whilst dressed in his best suit.
