My on again, off again ex GF took a pic once for a modeling site that looked like it was in a field of bamboo. But it was, ah, not bamboo.

I love bamboo. I left some at my old house when I sold it. I wish there was some way for me to have brought it with me, but there's no place in an apt for it. This thread makes me chuckle just a little.

Can you dig it !

When I was in high school, I helped my Dad dig up a pretty good size bambo patch in his side yard. He didn't really have any problem with the bamboo, but we kept on finding snakes hiding in there, usually rattlesnakes or copperheads. The bambo had been there for several years and had developed large inter mingled roots that were a b***h to get up. However, we persevered and finally got it done. And, yes, there were new shoots that kept on coming up for a couple of years. If I had to get rid of another bambo patch, I would call someone with a backhoe!

My neighbor has bamboo... which means I have bamboo. Invasive as hell. i counted 22 shoots in my back yard Monday, Looks like it grows 2-3" a day. Neighbor is paying for the gardener to make it go away.

that sucks!! i was granted full access to both my elderly neighbors yards. i eradicated theirs with ease. on the bright side, the "escapees" are typically really close to the surface and is 100% running rhizomes.. they pull up like an electrical conduit..just grab an end and yank gently..prying if it gets difficult. you wont have those root clumps that are deeper and harder to find.

i assume the gardner is going to trench and install a barrier? if not, demand it..or he will be back.
