How is it sad? That the entitled frat boy gets exposed for what he is, a person w bad character? He tried to make an entire country look bad to cover his own bad behavior. Yes, Brazil has plenty of problems and their image was really on the line w these Olympics, (as is the case for any host country), he was willing to spin a BS story that made them look REALLY bad, (robbed by the cops), just to cover being an ass hole at a gas station.

I for one am sick and tired of the kind of privilege this implies. You see it way too much. Not sad for him in the least.

I'm seeing it as an American, and seeing the misrepresented spirit of our Olympic efforts.

These athletes are there representing us and then chose to embarrass themselves, then compound it by denigrating the host country. In a lame childish attempt to wiggle out of the situation they created.

Thereby embarrassing the whole country on the world stage.

Yep, sad to me anyways.

They're elite athletes. They live and extremely sheltered lifestyle. I'm not surprised by this at all. If anything shenanigans like this are completely normal.

The son of the coach of the Australian cycling team works for the same company I do. He's told me some stories you wouldn't believe.

Meanwhile... 2 Australian athletes have been banned from the closing ceremony for missing the curfew.
The fact that they even have a curfew should tell you something about the maturity of these athletes.
