Anyone else using Skoon for litter? We changed a couple months back and it does a great job preventing odor and dust. Very easy to maintain too. They recommend completely changing from whatever you are using to Skoon. I found out the hard way that is correct. Gradually introducing Skoon (because we weren’t sure how the kitties would respond) was a pain to clean. The change is pretty much complete now. I don’t know how the cost compares to standard litter.

Anyway...a cat started hanging around here. Being a rural area, they seem to get dumped here...a sad thing. This one very friendly, a short hair ginger, the ginger so light she was almost gray. Very pretty, vocal...Made Cindy think she was starving, so she bought some food. The cat then made the usual "love you" moves...leg rubs, loved being petted, etc.

So, since all our cat supplies were given away after our last cats died...off to Wal-Mart last night, about $65 worth of food & supplies. Nothing like a free cat, right?

Still, we posted notes on neighbor doors. This morning, the phone rang. Her name is Rascal...yes, she's very friendly, and she's chipped & neutered... Whew! Relief! We really didn't want another cat, but being softies we wouldn't let her starve.

So, two good things....we'll be able to pet her when she visits. Also, we're sure the local no kill shelter can find a use for the food and supplies we bought. Just a little addition to our usual donations.

I guess "Rascal" knew she'd found people who like cats.
An update...Rascal is a frequent visitor here. He'll (Yes, neutered male) show up every day or two. Gets some treats, a little food, then lap time...mostly from Cindy. If he's tired from his adventures, he'll nap in a chair for an hour or two. Then it's; "I'm going home now, see you later." Perfect for Cindy & I...and his owners (As if anybody actually owns a cat) don't mind at all.

Of course they do. But what happens to the absorbed litter? Does it completely clump and easy to remove and trash?
Why not two boxes with each, and give the cats a choice?

Cat piss becomes toxic to humans after a while.
A neighbor uses some kind of plastic-wrapped pellets which turn into dust with enough piss.
I never understood this method.

I use A&H multi-cat unscented purple box for lack of a better product.
It does not fully clump to urine..a downside..but there is usually no dust smell or clay tacking .
About $25/40lb box here iirc.

Kitty is thankfully very active on both ends and has used up most of those lives and my pocketbook..

There is a family in Instagram who does this with their cats. It’s great to watch, especially when the start chittering with each other when they meet another cat. I find it fascinating.

I wake up to this almost every morning: our kitten, purring away on top of Mrs. Noah.

I really miss my cats. They were all black and showed up as orphans in my side yard back in '06. Started off with 4 and one by one over a 15 year span they disappeared.

So this evening on my way home from Mom's here is this little black kitty laying in the middle of the East bound lane. I pulled over and checked on him - checked for any sign of life - and sadly he was gone. Must have just happened because no one had run over his body yet. The damage that killed him was getting hit on one side of his head.

I couldn't just leave him so brought him to my home for burial in the morning.

I will keep an eye out for any missing black kitty social media posts too and respond as appropriate.

How very sad.

Every time I see a dead cat by the road, it sucks.. And i hug mine when i come home.
Its terrible how pets end up lost and on the street..

And with cars going over 50 mph by the time they hear em its to late..
Especially with modern cars that are very silent..

One of our kitties is giving us the worries. Was making the not unusual I'm about to barf noises. Nothing came out which is also not unusual. But then she made a couple meowing noises that sounded strange to my wife. She was acting very meek for the rest of the night and morning, even though she was doing normal things at the usual time. We hope it is not something serious.
