I pulled over and checked on him - checked for any sign of life - and sadly he was gone. Must have just happened because no one had run over his body yet. The damage that killed him was getting hit on one side of his head.

I couldn't just leave him so brought him to my home for burial in the morning.

I will keep an eye out for any missing black kitty social media posts too and respond as appropriate.

How very sad.

Thank you Baz for doing that. You have a huge heart.

Thanks, guys. Even in death - especially then - they deserve someone looking after them.....the very least we can do, eh?

Please hug your babies today........

^How kind of her to let you use her laptop. The generosity of cats is underrated.

The official CAT thread

With Byron’s recent loss of his beloved KitKat, I made a road trip out to my parents to see Clarabelle. We always called her Clara-bean when she was staying with us while my parents got settled into their new home. As a ranch kitty, I always had a special place in my heart for her. Although she has the famous resting *****-face, she is the gentlest soul and is an absolute sweetheart of a kitty. At 24, she has slowed down and is just content with sleeping all day and getting attention.

She gives you gentle head-buts and will reach up with her paw and touch your cheek. She has a hold of my heart in a way I can’t adequately describe. I just hung out with her today on their lawn and spent some time with her.

Give your babies sone love folks.

It's a bit interesting. I got a rescue cat who was so near dead as a kitten and has been frail throughout his young life. Then I got a healthy cat to be his friend. Umm, the healthy cat is phenomenally predatory and goes out hunting cats and dogs as a hobby. He had been giving frail cat a lot of grief and I was considering rehoming him to give frail cat some peace. Plus he ambushed a big Rottweiler who nearly lost an eye and disembowelled Maori gangsta's cat which I didn't really mind.

But frail cat got put on a new antibiotic or something and now he's smacking over predatory cat, and predatory cat is quite frightened of him. And frail cat has piled on the beef. Most of it muscle.

So... Fact is stranger than fiction in the cat world.

Bless her… sounds like she’s had it great with plenty of freedom living a happy life. Curious what her diet has been?

Thank you, nothing special over the years. Now it is mostly a variation of different wet foods from the stores like Petco, Petsmart. Better quality wet than the stuff you find at Walley World. She still likes her kibble and my mom usually gets the type with three-four main ingredients.

When she is hungry, she will get on your lap, then stand on your chest so she can give you a face rub, then bites(gently) your chin. she will eat only two or three bites and then go lay down. This ritual is usually done multiple times a day. She has us humans trained, what can I say.

I will do whatever she asks of me.
