I had to google that aircraft to see what it looked like. I have never heard of it before.
My first flight was in 1955 in a Bristol Freighter with Silver City Airways from Lydd to Le Touquet France.

My first flight was on a 707, when we moved from Chicago to Houston in 1969. We stopped somewhere in between, but didn't change planes (guessing St. Louis). I remember my sisters (6 & 8) and I (4 years old) having a pillow fight with the Stewardesses and getting to sit in the Captains chair. OF COURSE we all were given the little plastic wings. Pretty sure we were in First Class.

I love these old photos. My first flight was from Caracas to Barranquilla in 1974, when I was 2 months old. Obviously I have no idea aircraft type it was. We flew Pan Am a lot between Latin America and the US until we moved to the US in the early '80s. I can only imagine how expensive it was in those days, but as well as I can remember from that age, it was definitely a more pleasant experience than it is now. My grandfather was a pilot and at one time the head of an airline, and I've still got the model of a DC-9 that was in his office.

Here I am in 1967 at San Francisco getting ready to board one of those American Airlines "Astrojet" 720s in the background, bound for New York to visit dad's family. Collared shirt and tie with a nice sweater. I remember boarding with my older sister holding my hand and seeing two absolutely stunning stewardesses standing there, looking down at me and telling me how nice I looked. Their uniforms were dark blue and they had Jackie Kennedy pillbox hats and red lipstick. I was only five years old but I knew beautiful women when I saw them.

I am an airline captain now and I have long planned to walk into the restaurant at SFO, where this was taken and which still exists, and have another picture like this taken. One of these days!

This was the first jet I flew on, a DC-8. We traveled from Manila to Tokyo with a stop on Okinawa. Still tourist class. I don't recall ever flying first class. They didn't even let us walk through on our way to our seat as they had a stairway at the back of the plane.
