Home made car by PP user, kind of 356/550-ish.

I few years ago, a guy posted a thread where he was building a sportscar from scratch. It was very reminiscent of cross between an early 356 and a 550 and was very cool. I think the last time that I saw it, there was a body or partial body on it (hand formed Al, I believe).

Today I saw a video on youtube of a car that looked pretty similar. Is this the same guy or same car? If not, is that guy still around and did he finish his car.

I can't get the embed info for youtube while at work, so here's a link to the video.

That car is one of Christopher Runge's creations.

He is an utterly brilliant craftsman.

Yeah, I saw some pics and the car. The thing is that this car is VERY similar in appearance to one that a Pelicanite was making. I was wondering if it was the same guy or if not, whatever happened to that guy's car.

The car which was shown here some years ago was based upon a Formula V chassis and was I thought, a single seater.

Good stuff, thanks tons.

It's so cool to see that someone that started posting a project here has turned it into something as cool as Chris Runge has.

Crap, I don't have time to watch this now. I'll have to come back to it tomorrow.

Wow, I love both of the cars in that video.

The cars are getting better and cooler which is impressive, because the first car was cool.

Here's one of his cars at the Werks Reunion (Amelia Island) last Friday (3/7/18). I think I saw Jay Leno review this car.

I love the polish. Guess its the closest you can get to an early airplane without the falling out of the sky bit :-).

I always wonder what the approximate cost is. And yea, I have to ask so I can't afford one.

Are they 250 large or more? Like everything else, they are worth what a customer will pay. They are really cool cars. I guess he has super limited production so he does not have to meet DOT safety standards with airbags and tire pressure monitor systems and such.

It is just awesome that a young guy like he is is doing that level of work.

$65K has him working a not so great hourly rate, I bet.

One of the really nice things about spinning your own, is you have no bias towards you.

I know when I started my 912 resto, but buy god it has to be a 6 and it had to be a 2.8. Still not done .

I should have kept it '912' and done a big VW 4 in hindsight.

Nothing preconceived to drag you off path rolling your own.

Yeah, I remember when the original was offered here for 60K. I really liked the car but there were a lot of naysayers as well. Glad he is doing well.
