Resoling is great with the Goodyear welt. However I found out each time a resole is done, the boots/shoes sort of pucker and become a bit smaller. I found this out on a pair of Galibier Vercor hiking boots I had in the '70's. I would put up to 800 miles on a pair of boots during a summer and by that mileage, they were due for a resole. The third time I had the boots resoled, they were just slightly too small. I could still wear them but a fourth resole would have made them too small for me to use. I doubt anybody here would need to do a resole that many times.

I like the Danner boots with the welted stitched upper AND the sole that is layers of rubber with the Vibram sole glued on. Like Your Oldest Clothing/Footwear?

Mine get resoled by a regular shoe guy. He removes the worn Vibram, adds needed rubber at the heel, glues on a new Vibram sole. Doesn't have to do anything to the footbed.

Thanks John! I obviously did NO searches before posting this....I'm on that other thread . When the time comes, I'll see about having the bottom portion removed and a new sole glued on.

I had a pair of Rocky's with the injected sole resoled at a local place. Cost $60. He put a vibram sole on them.
