It is crazy how expensive snap on boxes are . I will never do it again . I could fill an entire one bay garage with Kobalt boxes from lowes for what I paid for my current setup, and they are almost as nice .
My tool box payment used to be more than my mortgage

I have one of the Husky tool chests from Home Depot and love it. I'm not really sure what 10x's the money gets you with snap on.

Nice!
I'm on the fence about the 'cheap' stuff. The HF, Lowes, HD stuff seems ok but not as sturdy. The drawers wiggle and I wonder about weight limit per drawer and slide quality. My real gripe is drawer layout, the $$ boxes seem to use space better. I have a good/decent quality Homak box thats held up great but I dont like the drawer layout. |

I bought a few craftsman 'ball bearing' boxes from the snap on dealer. He took them on trade, sold them cheap.

Nice stuff! The cassette lifts are pretty trick. Shows you what a $100+ labor rate gets you. Nice place to work.

The local Porsche dealer had to change out the tool boxes. On order from Porsche all the mechanics red tool boxes were moved out. The dealer paid for the new black tool boxes to confirm to PCNA orders. The new guys love it. They don't have to pay for a tool box.

I believe those are 4 post lifts? And the labor rate is almost $300 per hr.
And is that some kind of S&M swing? wth? |

^^^^^^this^^^^^ because no flat rate gig ever lasts, especially with new dealerships. A few years back when I was working with an indie BMW/ Porsche dealer here and things started to go south 1 of the guys left to work with a Hummer dealer. They supplied him as well as the rest of the shop a new Snap-On box spec'd to their shop.
Immediately he sold his big 'ol Marco setup. I heard he lasted 6 moths tops, and we all know what happened with Hummer. Makes me wonder how many other techs fell into the same trap.........
