I can't stand the stupid political speeches. Most seem barely literate and have little knowledge of history or current events. They could never hold a conversation on the issues/positions they espouse...much less debate them. They choose a forum of their fans where there is no response/rebuttal.

I know. Jon Voight - such an idiot.

That's because they are making a STATEMENT (like Trump's tweets) not participating in debate.

I think Voight did exactly what he should do when he won his award (real class):

JON VOIGHT, 1978 (51st) Academy Awards

Category: Actor in a Leading Role

Film Title: Coming Home

"I am still reeling really from the appearances just recently on this stage. I don't think there's an actor here or watching this proceeding tonight who doesn't acknowledge a great debt to the continuing legacy of Laurence Olivier. And his presence here tonight has put a great perspective and just, on the proceedings for me, and a warm and generous and dignified one, and I'm not quite able to recover from it, I tell you.

The performances this year in this category are remarkable, really. I am a great fan of the other members of the nominated body. And I know that we are all extremely aware of the extraordinary performances that we have been selected to represent. For my own part I have, as we all do, many people to thank for a performance which stands among this group of performances. I would like to thank everyone, but I select to thank a few who represent the many.

I would like to thank Bruce Dern, my friend, for his encouragement and his wonderful performance, and his friendship. I would like to thank Jerry Hellman, who produced also "Midnight Cowboy;" is an extraordinary man, a great producer, a tenacious fighter, who keeps us all healthy and has great taste. I would like to thank Hal Ashby, a remarkable, a remarkable person who was so helpful in getting me to myself and encouraging my performance. And finally I would like to thank Jane, whose great dignity as a human being – it's a good thing she's not here to see this – is very moving to me. And finally, I'm carrying with me all the men who gave me so much of their experience to deal with, who have contributed so much: the people in chairs, and the veterans, and the civilians, and the walkers, who are so strongly represented in what I'd call my work. Thank you very much."

Yes, the ones who force their politics upon us are obviously making a statement...but not about anything they have a clue about. They are not receiving an award because they are particularly versed or expert in any topic other than theater. Their antics cheapen the entire thing. They choose that venue because there is no response or questioning the stupid things they say.

If you want to complain about our President, you should take it to PARF.

From my small corner slice of experience, this is the first year my wife is going to skip watching the event on TV. A personal statement against those that will use their stage to broadcast hate and division of our fine country. We will still get our pizza and wine, but settle in for some sports and AMC Walking Dead. Pompous celebrities can F themselves. Haha this is awesome!

I like the Oscars. I go to the same friend's party every year, (Oscar nominated director), and hang out w some nice people including always plenty of starlets. The show is playing on a wall in the living room from an HD projector and I just watch the parts I want and walk around the house and grounds the rest of the time. I'm sure there will be plenty of political speeches but they don't bother me because I'm a Hollywood liberal. :)

And who gives a rat's ass what these celebrities think about anything beyond Hollywood anyway? It's just their opinion...no more or no less valid than your next door neighbor's, or anybody else's for that matter.

Apparently some care...but personally, if I wanted political discussion, there are folks in PARF who actually know what they are talking about (as well as many that do not). I don't need a lecture from some bimbo who played someone with a clue once on TV.

There from 3AM until two hours ago. 2nd team coming in now. I had to surrender my Oscar pass upon leaving. Forgot my phone today. Going back again in a few hours for the "Kelly after the Oscars show" which broadcasts live at 7AM east coast time. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1488166599.jpg

How fked up is that...can you imagine the disappointment of those who thought they had it and then didnt? That will be the last time they let a senile old fk like Warren Beatty present. That is a major faux pax.

It is Racism that is to blame, the white Hollywood wanted to mar black people winning. Forever it will be remembered as the night that the Oscar was misawarded to white people and then yanked away.
