Oscars, Ugh

Gotta be there at 3 AM and I won't even get a crew jacket.

Tobra 02-24-2017 08:57 PM

How many crew jackets do you already have anyway?

Don't they have like a gift bag or something, see if you can get one of those. You are the safety guy, they should take care of you, won't anyone think of the children?

Do you have to stay all GD day? Wear comfortable shoes, you should probably wear support stockings for a gig like yours too.

I used to live in the middle of Hollywood. One year they put up no parking signs and towed everyone's cars three hours later so that the celebrity douche canoes would have a place for their limos to idle.

F the oscars.

Thought you meant the fish...oh wait

WPOZZZ 02-24-2017 10:45 PM

pray for wardrobe malfunctions.

sc_rufctr 02-25-2017 01:45 AM

No offense intended but I stopped watching the Oscars more than 2 decades ago.

And yet I love the movies!

widgeon13 02-25-2017 03:35 AM

Will they at least supply ear plugs?

flatbutt 02-25-2017 04:47 AM

oh come on the silly speeches are the best part! you like them you really like them you know you do.;)

sammyg2 02-25-2017 07:22 AM

Got no use for any of that crap.
But a job is a job, otherwise it would be a really ****ty hobby.

stevej37 02-25-2017 07:34 AM

Usually try to watch it because of having seen most of the movies up for the awards. The last few years the Hosts have been very good. I hope they can convince Billy Crystal to do it again.

I agree with this, and I usually watch the first part because here on the east coast
it's 9 or ten PM by the time it starts, so never get to see the end results. But I enjoy what I do watch. It's the big daddy of awards. All the rest (awards) are not for me.

BTW, I think Crystal was the best of the best.IMO

BeyGon 02-25-2017 07:53 AM

There will be something better on, Walker Texas Ranger or a food network show.

pwd72s 02-25-2017 07:57 AM

If a guy has to work, a guy has to work...

I avoid awards shows. Got weary of the "We're rich and beautiful and you're not." attitudes expressed.

Same here. It seems like every year there is another award show added to the calendar - where's the little emoji that vomits...

stevej37 02-25-2017 09:05 AM

searched for past Hosts...Bob Hope..19 times!
behind him...Billy Crystal..9 times.

Hugh...any chance of seeing you on camera or in the background during the show or pre-show??

Hugh R 02-25-2017 09:11 AM

Not a chance that will happen.

Noah930 02-25-2017 12:39 PM

Then make it happen! Seize your day! Get your 15 minutes, um seconds, of fame!

I can't stand these self-congratulatory awards shows. As if these people don't have enough adulation and worship lauded on them the other 364 days of the year.

But Hollywood, whether it's the big screen or the silver screen, makes a lot of LA go. Growing up, we had a next-door neighbor who hosted a black tie party on Oscar night. A lot of cheering for their friends/colleagues. I might not know the stars personally, but apparently some of my neighbors do.

stevej37 02-25-2017 12:48 PM

Just like any other job..it takes a lot of work to rise to the top. They deserve their day in the spotlight. If others don't like it...don't watch.

Noah930 02-25-2017 01:49 PM

Which is why I haven't watched any awards show in decades. Unfortunately, it also means I missed a couple friends get on stage to accept their awards. But hey, if the OP was going to do something spectacular to get onto TV, I might just make an exception... :p Not supposed to rain much, but stay dry, Hugh; we Angelenos have developed climactically-thin blood. Edit: looks to rain between 0100 - 0600, so hopefully it won't be too bad for you, Hugh.

aap1966 02-26-2017 11:29 AM

Best awards quote I've heard:
"Celebrities acknowledge each other more often than do Siamese twins".
