No, that is not what happened.

Here is an acceptance speech by Viola Davis, for whatever prize she won. At about one minute in, she makes about the most pretentious claim I have ever heard an actor or actress make.

Keep up the good work, Hugh.

BTW: Watched a short news clip of the Oscar's rehearsal and where two twenty foot tall props fell over on stage. Looked like buildings.

STAGE PROP COMES CRASHING DOWN!
3,637 2/26/2017 4:01 PM PST
EXCLUSIVE
props_crashed_on_oscar_set_wm-3Part of the Oscars stage was left in shambles Sunday morning when a prop crashed down during rehearsals ... and TMZ got this photo of the damage.
The accident happened around 11:30 AM on the stage at the Dolby Theatre -- just hours before the award show was set to begin. We're told host Jimmy Kimmel was working out a skit at the time, but was off the stage.
The props, which appear to be skyscraper models, tumbled over and crushed a camera. We're told no one was injured though. One witness described it as making a "horrifying sound" as it tore down the curtain.
The show is set to begin at 5:30 PM PT ... so we're guessing there's a lot of scrambling going on to get things fixed. We've got a call in to the Oscars and ABC ... no word back yet.

I don't see why Beatty gets a beating - he clearly thought something was wrong, as he froze when he saw the card and looked puzzled. He showed it to Faye Dunaway and she said La La Land won.

He shouldn't have handed it to her under the circumstances. That was a putz move.

Awards shows are like anything, some people love them and some hate them.
Not my cup of tea but I have friends who wouldn't miss one.
Did you get any OT Hugh? I often get to work goofy events at my work but get paid overtime for the inconvenience.

It's questionable whether he handed it to her. It may be he was showing her there a problem. Faye screwed up worse than Warren as she was the one who blurted out La La Land. She was exasperated with Warren of which there is allot of history between the two.

Almost all fault lies with the star-struck accountant, who effed up bigly. You do not hand a loaded weapon to a chimpanzee.

I'm salaried so no OT, but I'll take a comp day off soon.

I've worked with Ms. Dunaway. She's pretty much in La La Land as it is.

Tobra 02-28-2017 08:17 PM

There you have it. Denis has joined her there. I did not even watch it and I know what happened better than he does.

Exactly, it is clearly wrong, in black and white, he looks at her and she bleats it out. A normal person would look at it, and think wow, they did not cover this in rehearsal. Then she opens her mouth and people start thinking he is the jerk. Normally, I would say, yes, Warren Beatty is a jerk. Not the case this time.
