WTF - ebay?
I have been actively using eBay since 1998 as both a seller and buyer. Up until 4 months ago, I had mostly good experiences. Since November, I have been the victim of 5-6 fraudulent transactions.
The 'seller' runs an auction with multiple items and a buy it now a few bucks less than the going rate. You buy it now and pay and the item never arrives, at some point the seller cancels his account. Ebay has refunded my money each time but this is getting stupid. Sometimes the seller has a feedback score of several hundred to several thousand before pulling this stunt. I've been trying to buy a Baofeng handheld radio for nearly 4 months now... Anyone else have similar experience? I have a similar issue with one of my amazon purchases right now...

Not quite the same but I bought an exhaust from a Toyota dealer on eBay with major feedback and it was an odd process.
Got tracking number from fed ex right away but never said picked up. 4 days of this and I call the eBay guy at the dealership and he's like 'oh yeah I saw that go out. Didn't ask my name or order number. And they have a huge number of listings. So a few days later it still hasn't updated and I call again. Guy won't answer the phone but staff says he's there. I tell receptionist and a salesman 'he needs to call me, not answering his phone or email' and finally he calls from the dealer. Here's where it gets really weird; he says 'I have the new tracking numbers for your item'. Item? Wtf is that about. THEN he says 'let me call you back from my cell so I can walk to the warehouse, tracking numbers aren't coming up here' I got the exhaust but I feel like there is some manner of fraud potential at even legit businesses on eBay. Might be the eBay guy and not the bsns itself. He could be telling the boss 'oh this got all screwed up we need to start over' or who knows what. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ebay has recently changed what transactions it will guarantee. Better read and be careful before you start paying for or selling anything!

eBay jumped the shark for me. Buy on Amazon, sell locally or throw it away.

Those are around $36.99 on amazon. UV-5B
Don't forget to buy the serial communication cable. Way easier to program with the cable.

I still buy on ebay but not as much as I once did. I can get a lot of the same stuff on Amazon or the Walmart site. A lot of people do not know it but You can buy almost anything through Walmart, just like Amazon. I sell on Craigs list. Ebay has become to difficult for selling.

I always use a credit card when buying online.
If anything goes wrong, I don't have to deal with the DBs at e-bay or anyone else. I just call my bank and dispute the charges, done! |

Ebay has changed...for the worse.
The old saying.."if it's not broke..don't try to fix it" stands.

I quit using Ebay years ago because of negative experiences. I went through EBay's mediation process once when I didn't receive an item I'd paid for. The seller basically said "TS." In the mediation process, the Ebay rep told me the seller had claimed to have shipped the item, so that was it as far as mediation was concerned. I asked about the proof from the seller saying the item had been shipped. They indicated the claim of shipment from the seller was sufficient. (And by the way, the seller was also here on PP at the time) I mostly get what I need on Amazon & Craigslist like some others have mentioned on here.
