Bar fight and swung on by a pool cue is a better story.

LOL! You're all spot on guys. Anything would have made a better story than: "I was helping my wife in the kitchen, and..."

Tabs is right. It coulda been worse. If I'd hit my head on the corner of the counter, I may have damaged the counter.

I've broken the lower 4 on my left side, displaced fractures while karting at age 36. Trust the poster that said sleep on the recliner.

@ 5 I green tree fractured my right ulna
@ 6 fractured right radius
@ 9 Concussion
@ 15 popped the end of my elbow off requiring pins and wires to repair
@ 23 I twisted my right ankle so bad that a tendon pulled a chunk of bone out of my foot
@32 fractured my tailbone
@36 4 ribs
@41 T-10 to 50% and blew a chunk out from12 to 3 o'clock ( I've been told by 3 different Dr's at three different times that my X-rays are not mine due to that I can walk
Also blew my calcaneus off of my right foot and a chunk of the right side of my foot off
@ 50 I busted up my right wrist Ulna and radius
three months later left foot a metacarpal snapped Dr does a bone scan and I am now the new face of Osteoporosis
Sunday night I run off three coyotes off of my front lawn, trip bruised some ribs oh and snapped the radius end up near the elbow on my right arm
I don't count the 3 or so broken toes

Ribs are very high on the pain scale and healing time sucks I'm soo F'cking sick of pain.

I had a bad car accident 5 yers ago (idiot slammed into the side of me at 60 mph when he ran the stop sign). With a shattered pelvis, and 4 broken ribs, I had the good "controlled" stuff in the hospital, that basically put me to sleep. When I got home (in a hospital bed) I tried the Oxy stuff and hated it. It made me nauseous, hot/cold spells, and dizzy. I quit taking ANYTHING for the pain at that point, because I was afraid if I needed to vomit, I couldn't roll on my side to do so.

A year later (after 6 months learning to walk again), the dog ran out in front of me on my Honda XR200 at about 20 mph. I missed the dog, but dumped the bike, and rebroke the ribs.....I sucked it up, and didn't take anything that time either.

Be very careful with pain meds and "needing" them, pain is mostly mental.
