The worst pain I've ever felt was sneezing when I had a couple of broken ribs. Get well soon!

Thanks for the kind words, humor and good advice, guys. I was warned about pneumonia...so despite the pain, I'm going to do enough deep breath stuff to avoid that.

T-77, yeah it's like that...lots of grimacing & pain when trying to do what was routine just 2 days ago. Moving very slow because of the hurt. I really do plan on taking it easy with the oxy stuff. For one thing, I don't like the way it messes with my head.

Guess I'd better hire a yard service for a couple of months...and no pool playing...even thinking of getting down for a shot, stretching out my bridge arm makes me grimace.

Hoot! Yeah, a Trump rally & a fight...sounds much better than "I fell in the kitchen".

OUCH! Heal quickly!

I was playing soccer, got kicked and ended up with a broken bottom rib on my right side. Turned out to be a displaced fracture - not only did the bones not line up, the broken pieces crossed over each other. Took a full 2 years to stop hurting completely and that's when I was around 37 or so.

Instead of Oxy, you might want to try Vicodin. I take Vicodin when I get kidney stones. I have oxy as a back up, but only use it when the vicodin can't cut the pain. Then I take an oxy and go to sleep.

You're not a wimp, broken ribs hurt like hell.

As we get older, falls become a huge danger along with their associated injuries. My only advice, (to all of us), is that once you heal sufficiently, get on a mild exercise regime that improves/maintains balance and strength. It can make a life or death difference as we age.

Feel better.

Oh. And don't even think about sneezing! I stifled them for months after I fractured 5 ribs in an ATV crash.

I certainly hope you didn't damage the Cabinet, the Counter or the floor in your fall.

Well look at the bright side at least a Tractor didn't run over you at the age of 76. Crushing all the ribs on your left side and a few on the other, requiring a 3 month stay in the ICU, and a further 6 months in a recovery facility. MD told his wife that he had never seen anybody with more of an injury survive. Larry Bryner is the guys name, lives in Ohio.

So just walk it off.

Good luck PWD.

I had to ask my dad the other day when his knees started going bad.

Paul, heal up soon!

Oh man, sorry to hear, Paul. Get better soon. 3 winters ago on a bicycle accident, I broke three ribs and my collar bone, all on the right side, so I was in hell since I am extreme right hand dominate. Wiping my ass with my left was a huge challenge. I yell for my wife for some help but she wan't having anything of that. So much for sickness and health.Oh yeah, don't laugh, cough, or take deep breath. Hang in there, it will be over soon.

I broke two the first of this year. The rug monster got me with a plate in my hand and young kids near. I landed side first into the armrest of a big chair. However, it wasn't the fall, it was a cough 2 days later when the pain hit. Tremendous pain! I've broken limbs before, ribs are far worse.

I was mobile again in 5 days, but haven't fully healed yet. Took hydrocodone for pain, rested as much as I could. Take it easy, and hope you get better soon Paul.

Two Broken Ribs

Paul, make up a better story about how it happened. Like several young punks jumped you after beating them at pool. Or maybe a biker gang harassing a young couple on the side of the road. Anything is better than your story. Make up something better!
