Long Beach Grand Prix Can Am cars

HALP!

Does anyone know if there is any coverage on TV or a place to stream that isn't a credit card shark?

Don't think so. I'll have some clips up on flickr this week though.

So, the TV giants will show ladie's college Lacross, high school football games, and non-PGA golf tournaments, but something so cool, international, and interesting as running a Gran Prix in downtown L.A. doesn't merit any coverage ? I searched for it myself, and couldn't find it.

The coverage for F1 kept mentioning the upcoming coverage of the Long Beach GP in the afternoon.

I got to see coverage of the IMSA race there.
Pretty exciting watching the various classes overtaking each other between the walls.

Those Taylor Brothers have become a formatable pair, cool seeing their family team at the front.

Also neat seeing so many different manufacturers in the hunt in the GT classes.

Never heard mention of the CANAM cars running, that would have been fun to see/hear.

Cheers Richard

My son said the two Shadows were really going at it, the other drivers seemed to be out for a Sunday drive. Brothers were in the Shadows so yeah, I can see that. The chance to wreck with the proximity of the walls probably cooled the heat of competition at Long Beach. I've seen Can-Am run at the Historics up at Laguna and it is always one of the best events to watch.

Thanks for sharing the vids and pics, Max.

I can attest, the CanAm race was good. Seemed only one car out for Saturday drive. Stood at the hairpin and they were hammering them down Shoreline.

Speaking of Long Beach, does anyone know what happened to the Lexus driver that took out the Turner BMW and an Accura? Bonehead move of the weekend. Heard race control was looking for him, but he had taken a powder and left the track

The IMSA race was only shown in replay on Sunday during the same time slot as the live IndyCar race. (FS1 vs. NBCSN). The PWC race was on CNBC before the IndyCar race.

I don't think Can-Am got any TV time.

One or two cars seemed to loose a cylinder or two as the race went on. The shadows and the rest of the top 5 or so were noticably faster but I think part of that is just due to the wide spread in the cars. Some of them were from the early Can-Am days and some were from the latter days.

Saw Follmer and Oliver in the Shadows at Road Atlanta back in the day... they were defying the laws of physics in those things. No idea how they kept those things on the track at the speeds they were running on every part of the track. Made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.
