Just read this on autosport, weird
No cars finished a Formula 4 support race at Malaysian F1 venue. None. Seems they all ran out of fuel! There was a winner, but he didn't finish either.
|
Just read that Hamilton ‘may take to one knee’ during the National Anthem for the USGP.
Which makes me want to root for someone else... |

Vettel now blames Stroll? Looked to me like he was trying the schuey chop on the cool down lap.
|
Why did he take the steering wheel with him?
|
Ferrari should've had a one/two finish at this track, had they not self-destructed. Pretty irritating, but not bad damage for Vettel.
|
I think Stroll gets the majority of the blame for that particular incident. As for the steering wheel, it looked like he had difficulty putting it back on and in the end, just decided to take it with him so it wouldn't get stolen. Who knows?
|
Weirder than weird
|
Bizarre. Seems like both drivers weren’t as lucid as they should have been.
|
They were zigging and zagging, when they both zigged or perhaps zagged at the
same time. |
It looked to me like Vettel was taking a fairly normal line through the middle of the corner and Stroll wasn't aware of him coming around on the right side. From the view of the car following them, it looked like Stroll moved right (essentially going straight during that part of the corner), either because he was looking at something inside the cockpit or because he was intending to move off-line to pick up rubber.
|
One of the best races of the year! Many of us aren't fans of the new tracks in second tier markets but they do make for good races with the wide tracks.
Since Stroll said in the post race interviews that he was just doing his normal engine shutdown when Vettel hit him tells me Stroll was looking down at his steering wheel and not looking where he was going. |
Great race all through the field. Ric holding off Vet was great. The drivers looked absolutely spent in the green room. Great for Verstappen.
As for the post-finish hit, it's called a cool down lap. I think Vet moved around Stroll fairly aggressively when drivers are waiving at the fans and picking up clag. Was ruled as no-fault, but if Vet took a big line around Stroll they would not have hit. |
Epic Schumi like drive from Vettle.
Looked like Stroll just kept going straight rather than take the left hander. He said in interview that he was shutting the car down. He probably had no idea Seb was there nor that he needed to turn left. Pretty clear from the video in the car behind that he just kept going straight, right into Seb. Comment above about Hammy kneeling at COTA: it will be interesting if he brings some quasi celebrities in to do it as well. Assuming that this report is true. He's a knob so he probably will do it. |

I'm sure MB owners will like this....

Good for Verstappen and great race overall.
|
Hey, Verstappen can win when he doesn't take himself out on the first lap!

Look at that video, and if you still don't think it's all Stroll, we'll agree to disagree. |
I was reading this morning that Seb may face 5 grid place penalty IF the gearbox has to be replaced due to the contact initiated by Stroll. Now that the stewards took no action how the F can Vettle be made to pay a price for this?
Its not a huge deal to make a determination on fault, and clearly Stroll was at fault, but they could also say no action to be taken. That would allow Ferrari to replace the gearbox without penalty. Bizzare |
