Up until that time I thought he was British. He is a DB. He's an incredible driver, but still a DB. If your hair looks like this: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1497294801.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1497294801.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1497294801.jpg Or your facial hair looks like this: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1497294843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1497294843.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1497294843.jpg And you then cover your body with gangsta wanna-be bad boy tats, then you are definitely a DB. But iMO, there is no one in F1 that is as big of a DB as perez. How would you like to have a guy like that on your team? |

Does Stroll have the goods or is this just money? Too bad Massa got collected in turn 2, lap 1. Not sure what Sainz was trying to do with that. It looked like he just got sideways and nearly took out half the field. |

I'm gonna say that winning the Indy 500 with the first Japanese racer is not going to matter one grain of rice to McLaren. Or to Honda either, for that matter. They might as well get out of racing altogether, such is the pall cast over their racing heritage.

Today's gossip: McLaren set to part ways with Honda. Well, no kidding.
McLaren to ditch Honda engines and switch to Mercedes | Daily Mail Online Sammy, I agree on Perez. Having the strategy for Ocon then not sticking with it was pretty stupid. I get Perez' point that all Ocon had to do was pass him but still Ocon was on newer softer tyres. Give him the chance and revert to original positions if it doesn't work. So now all they did was both drop a place to Seb. |
Wow Perez.... I loved how Will buxton took him to task and dismantled him during that interview..."so, would you say you race for yourself or for you team? would you say you cost your team a podium?".... You could tell he did not have a anything to say to defend himself... That said, the fault it with the team. By the time they decided to "ask gently" it was already 10 laps too late.... Ocon was the epitome of class taking the high road, that young kid has a good head on his shoulders, he will go far... Considering his equipment, I think he is as impressive as Verstappen (but crashes less)...
Also, if Force india can do this with a mercedes engine, imagine what McLaren could do next year ! Their chassis is supposedly not bad. "Alfred" should stay put ! |
The return of Kubica? It would be big for the sport if he had a competitive car.
Kubica Says He Can Drive Without Limitations "It turned out that [driving an F1 car] is not as scary and remote as it seemed to be. I can even admit that an F1 car was one of the easiest machines to drive with my limitations after my accident. "Now I can sleep better because I know that I can drive a Formula 1 car without any limitations, I can drive quickly and consistently." Kubica says he was in "shock" after the very first laps of his return test because of how comfortable he was driving an F1 car again. "One of the best moments was returning to the pits after my first run when I realised that everything was under control and nothing had changed. "After the first three laps it seemed that the break had not lasted more than a month. It was a shock as I had a lot of question marks after so many years [out of action]. |
Word on the street ......
A Chinese backed F1 team is trying to make it to the grid for 2018 with Ron Dennis heading it up which will be based in Oxfordshire, England ;) If it is true then it might explain why none of the chassis or pit equipment at the Manor liquidation sale never made it to the auction ;) |
Also Monisha Kaltenborn is out of Sauber... I got no opinion one way or another, Sauber, Yawn.
At least she won't have to watch the Honda engines explode in her car next year ! |
Sauber is, or was, one of the great independent teams. It would make sense for it to be purchased by an automotive or tech giant.

They have consistently punched above their weight for years and are located where the skilled workforce live. A very important consideration when building up a manufacturer F1 team. Talking of Sauber there is a rumour they are planning to set up a UK technical centre to compliment their Hinwil base in Switzerland. Forgot to add in my last post Porsche is sniffing around joining F1. Would love to see their name on a car again but have doubts it will happen. VAG group has a long history of making the right noises but never actually committing. They are partly to blame for the V6 power unit layout, originally it was a straight 4 engine but the layout was changed to help entice VAG. |

I still miss the 18000 rpm V10 engines :( |
Well, they tried McLaren Honda again and it didn't work. Maybe they can convince Porsche and also try McLaren TAG-Porsche again. At least Porsche would have some knowledge about the hybrid turbo powertrain :D
