Can't sleep. Dad passed away tonight.
Took care of mom, came home, beat tired and trying like hell to sleep but can't. Been going to the hospital a few hours daily for the past one and half year hanging out with him making sure he's taken care of.

I am truly sorry for your loss. My Dad passed away 13 years ago (the model of a man I can only hope to be). I don't think a day goes by that he doesn't pass my mind. Keep him alive in your thoughts and deeds.

So sorry for your loss, Jeff....it will take a while to fully process things but in time you will so for now just let your emotions run their course.
Sounds like this was a blessing for your father (and his family) so there's that. Doesn't make the end result any better, I'm sure. Glad you were there for Mom - and Dad. You're a good son. Much respect, sir. Cherish the good times and know your father will be waiting for you on the other side for a hug and hand shake. Please convey my respects to Mom. Stay strong......your friend, Baz

Write down what is most important to you about your dad. Not for this forum, I mean a private essay.

Yeah write it down and get some sleep for now. You'll have a few months of sorting, moving, networking etc ahead of you and won't have time to think about it. There will be a delay for the real grief to set in later on and the 'what ifs'. You did good by him and will have to remind yourself of that. Then go do something he would be proud of.
My condolences to you and yours. |

Sorry for your loss. I hope you get some rest. Going to the hospital every day for a year. That's devotion. Bless you.

Funny thing about one of my experiences with grief. A few years back my friend learned of his bladder cancer. I asked him to email to me the biopsies and path reports. I immediately knew his days were numbered but he didn't.
As the diseased progressed even following chemo and surgery, he finally accepted the inevitable and was quite vehement in expressing his desire not to have people grieving in his presence. I had already been grieving for him for months. Finally, in his last days as he slipped away, he thanked me for being so strong. Right. Like I was fooling him all along. When he finally did pass, my grief began to recede. Thankfully, these days, I hardly ever think of him. |

The sleep will return.
I am so sorry for your loss, it is something that is hard to express. I lost my Dad on February 7 this year. The feeling of grief and loss is incredibly unique. It is one that is beyond expression, but so deeply felt. Dad and Mom are both gone and his passing makes the loss of that team, Mom and Dad, all the more glaring. You know, we wish you and your family, especially your Mom, peace in this time of grief. Our prayers are with you.
