Stout
Have come to enjoy a delicious local stout (sorry, not an IPA). I happenend upon this beer, which is seasonal (winter), and it has become my favourite. This is a review rather than a link to the manufacturer. Howe Sound Brewing Co. – Pothole Filler Imperial Stout | Beer Me British Columbia
I never expected to like such a dark and heavy beer but as I said it's now my fav. If you ever come up to Vancouver in the winter time, search out this beer in our gov't liquor stores; it's a treat.

I don't care for IPA but Lagunitas IPA is excellent. Anything Lagunitas is. They are going big, so should be easy to source.
Sculpin has already been named. Good IPA - the grapefruit one is refreshing after a workout. They are going for high $ - a six pack is 11 bucks, so that may fit your location! Also look at Firestone out of Paso Robles. 805 American blonde and easy jack IPA. Note that IPA are a bit old news. American Blondes, pale ales etc. are displacing some of them. My favorite craft brewery is North Coast Brewing Co out of Fort Bragg. Notable is their Scrimshaw Pilsner and Rasputin Imperial Stout! I also like Black Butte Porter from Deschutes. Now I'm thirsty! |

To the OP, don't know where you're located, but if in the PA/NJ/MA corridor, check out Evil Genius Beer. They're based in Philly and have catchy names like Stacy's Mom, Turtle Power, Ma! The Meatloaf, Shut Up Meg! and more, but not super high alcohol content. Catchy names and good beer should make for good sales. www.evilgeniusbeer

Most mini mart type places in the better Seattle neighborhoods do growler fills and have a few beers on tap. Along with the usual bigger or regional craft type beers. Seems like an easy way to make a profitable play on local/regional beer that isn't bottled.
My favorite widely available IPA is Sierra Nevada Torpedo. But living where I do we have about a dozen or breweries within a mile or two. We also have a place called Chucks Hop Shop. The guy turned a couple sketchy minimarts into amazing beer shops. They are super popular and always full. http://www.seattlemag.com/article/people-beer-chuck-shin

I have liked Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada, Full Sail, Lagunitas. Generally I prefer the darker stuff to the IPA, Anchor makes a fine Porter, as does Sierra Nevada

Actually, Flying dog Raging ***** is really good, as is Tropical *****. But I'm not an IPA guy really. A classic is Dogfish 60 minute, but those are all east coast beers.
On the west coast, anything from Ballast Point.

Go to a BevMo or similar big box store and see whats popular. There is a mind numbing selection of IPAs. Mine social media to get ahead of the trends.

Another good beer if you're ever in WI is New Glaurus, their Spotted Cow is an all time favorite. KC Bier Company is a new brewery in KC that's also great, I have a keg of their Hefeweizen on tap now. ![]()

Oh yes, I will have to carry Anchor Steam just so I can finagle a few free 6 packs from them. Sierra Nevada, 805, some of those already mentioned are already on the Plan-o-gram. I have around 25% discretion, and the amount of cooler space that we're going to have is vast. So that means I need to find energy drinks, teas, fruit drinks, and on and on. |

I travel a LOT for work and always try to experience local flavor. Honestly the best local beer I have had is in the Northern states like WI and MI. Maybe it's the long cold winters? Overall I think there is an abundance of fantastic craft beer just about everywhere, and it's fun to go sample it.
