Anyone use MCT Oil?

While browsing the internet, I stumbled on to a video on Bullet Coffee. I watched and was kind of shocked to see this guy making coffee with Butter and Coconut Oil (2 tblspoon Butter + 2 tblspoon Coconut Oil + 2 Cups Coffee, then blended).

This sounded gross to me but I decided to try it anyway. Supposedly, this is for low carb dieters or ketogenic dieting and is supposed to give you energy and makes you full. Since I lost 45lbs on the Atkin's Diet in 2005 I was aware of low carb diets and how they work. I periodicly go low carb or reduce carbs when I need to.

I have a Keurig Coffee Maker and a Nutri-Bullet Smoothy Blender. I added the butter and coconut oil directly to the nutribullet and then brewed coffee (12oz) into the nutribullet container. Then added the blades and blended for 5-10 seconds. This produced a very foamy coffee that was very similar to a capichino with a very slight taste of coconut. I mostly tasted the coffee and couldn't even taste the butter.

More internet research indicated that the coconut oilis full of MCT Oil (about 65%). These are medium chain tryglicerides which are easy-to-digest saturated fats (supposedly the good version of saturated fats).

Next, I saw a bottle of MCT Oil at Whole Foods so I bought it and decided to change my reciepe to 1tlbspoon MCT + 1tblspoon Coconut Oil + 2 tblspoon Butter + 2 cups of coffee.

RESULT:
I don't know how this is working but I have lost 15lbs over the past 4 weeks and I have changed nothing in my daily diet except the bullet coffee. I did drink the oil straight one morning when I was running late; don't ever doo this (key word doo). I've gone from 36 waist jeans to 34 and I can't even wear the 36's as I can pull them off without unbuttoning; their just too damm big.

Just wondering if anyone else is on this program....for the record, I am moving towards a ketogenic diet and reducing many carbs (like sugar, candy, bread). I am eating lots of green vegetables and meats/fish/chicken but I am not measuring intake at all and eat as much as I want (probably too much).

Hmm, I thought coconut oil was a no-no for the heart. Diet is a hellofa balancing act for me, both diabetes and AFIB,

My morning witches brew is
- 1/2 cup hot water
- couple of tblspn Apple Cider Vin. Braggs brand w/Mother
- 1 tblspn Coconut oil
- a little sweetener (Maple surple or Stevia)
- a shot of Beet Juice
.
...then my coffee.
.
Been taking that concoction for a few months and zero gout issues.
Altering my diet a little bit...I've lost 12# in 2 months.
20# more to go.
.
I have a large Fig tree and I've read about dried Fig leave tea...gonna try that, too.
Leaves hanging in my Sun Room drying out.

I've been reading as much as I can on this and there are many that say it's good and many that say it's bad. I don't have much faith in any government reccomendations as they are directed by industry (i.e,, sugar industry) an Americans have only gotten fatter since the removal of fat from diets.

To me it is pretty clear - if it is solid at room temperature, it likely is solid in your arteries eventually too. I would still use it to cook if the recipe calls for it, but certainly not start every day with it.

I haven't tried the bullet coffee but have seen others with great dietary success that have used it during low carb dietes. However, ALL of them were temporary with every one of them doing a yo yo months later. I'd like to see someone being able to sustain that diet and keep the weight off.

Personally, I really like my morning coffee. 1% milk, 2 shots of expresso in bed. Then another on the train. I can't imagine replacing that with a fat pill coffee. Generally I don't have issues with weight. Lay off the portion size, carb bombs and exercise, i.e. bike / train commute.

If your arteries are room temperature, you have bigger problems.

Don't take it literally - if soid at room temp it is generally a saturated fat and not so good for you. It will clog you up even if you aren't at room temperature YET!

Type of fats
