Autocrossing at Buttonwillow in NorCal

Has anyone ever run there before?

Oops, yeah, Thunderhill. I had it filed under tracks I have never been to. Figure to do my suspension bushings and mount my new tires prior to the event. Think my best friend will get to go too, should be a hoot. Sacramento SCCA, going to be on July 22&23

Looks like the event is at Thunderhill, not Buttonwillow. Buttonwillow is a LONG haul for the Sacramento guys just to go cone bowling.

Can't imagine living near Thunderhill and not owning a track car.
So you get to race carts on that track?
Fairly helpful cheat sheet.

this track cheat sheet is better.

Was on that track last month with some retired guy.
His video.

I guess I should put a roll bar in the miata, but I don't like the idea of one for a street car

The slippery slope...Agree not ideal with no helmet on the street...
but on the track it stops the roof from collapsing if you get upside down.
And can be a good mount for your 5 point belts.

This is a popular Miata track day site...

I was going to ask what car you are taking but I presume the Miata.

I though of putting one on mine (when I had one) there are a few loooooong threads on the miata BBS and most of the folks there recommend a roll bar (and post gruesome pics of Miata rollovers).

However I got stalled on the cost and the fact that you have to tear out the interior to do a proper install.

Far more likely to take a hit from behind than to roll it. Hit from behind and the rollbar is liable to open your melon. My best friend has a civic that will probably end up a track car
