2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS: The most powerful, priciest 911 of all time | Fox News

$294,250 and that's before the options!

LOL. I wonder if the writer knows the history of red pull straps.

Which side of the rear axle is the engine on?

". . . Porsche installed a water-injection system that sprays a fine mist into the hot exhaust stream entering the turbos."

Ermmmm - Spraying water in to the hot exhaust stream before it enters the turbos?

I think the person who wrote this article doesn't understand thermodynamics.

The article I read said that the water sprayed on the intercoolers.

Carbon fiber body panels, carbon ceramic brakes, a titanium exhaust, and a magnesium roof cut weight to only 3085 pounds (even interior door handles are too heavy for this Porsche, so instead there are red pull straps).
ah the good old days.
My 911 SC had air conditioning, power windows and real metal inside door handles, and it weighed 2660 lubs with a spare tire and some extra tools in the BOOOOT.

If it was soooo easy to keep the weight down then, why can't they do it now? Rhetorical. Nanny gubmints are HEAVY!

edit: missed this little tidbit, seems perfectly reasonable!

A $31,000 Weissach package drops 40 pounds with magnesium wheels and even more carbon fiber.
That's less that $1000 per pound, what a deal!

Water sprayed into the inlet stream post-turbo, or into/onto the intercoolers makes perfect sense. Spraying it into the exhaust pre-turbo makes no sense at all.

I suspect the writer received the details, didn't understand the information, and wrote it with no further thought.

Just another example of declining standards in 'journalism' I guess.

So that's what they mean by a water cooled Porsche?

The writer probably also reviews smart phones and doesn't know what an intercooler is.

Yeah but the motor is as unimpressive as a Camry. I guess he commonly sees 700 hp 6 cyl. Toyotas.

The car is epic, but honestly if you get your car news from Fox News, that's what you deserve.

Get your car news from anywhere. Get the car facts from some place that knows what they are talking about.

Let's see. If you sprayed a mist of water into the hot exhaust pre-turbo, the mist would be converted to steam. Wouldn't that make the turbo steam driven?

How many gallons/pounds of water is this car carrying for this intercooler mister and how often does this mister tank need to be refilled?

save so much weight everywhere else."
